From a Strobist shoot I went to this past week here in Nashville.

Fun stuff.

This was taken with a D70s and 2 sb800s and one sb600 gelled blue.

Comments?

BTW, this model is Kim, and her hair and makeup were done by Rodey of http://hairmafia.com/Home_Page.html

Same shoot.

This is Carrie Moeller. She is an aspiring singer/songwriter.

We don't get too many of those here in Nashville. :whistling:

Very nice and a ton of patience for a struggling photog.

Comments are welcome on any and all of these photos.

I have been lurking this forum for a long time, but haven't posted anything.

Some good photogs here on GT, no doubt. It frustrates my wife that I have 2 expensive hobbies... photography and guns.

On the first one I would crop the blue in the lower right hand corner out. It distracts and makes me wonder what it is. Also, I think it would be more engaging if her eyes were looking towards the camera instead of away since it leads the viewer's eyes out.

On the second one, she just looks so scrounced up and uncomfortable in that pose.

On the third one, her thumb directs my eyes up and away from her. I love the blue lighting. This pose is very natural and relaxed. She really looks like she is enjoying herself. :)

On the last one you posted, there is a wayward thread on her arm I would clone out. I would like to see a little more of her face by having her turn her head a hair.

You lighting looks pretty good to me. I can't really comment on poses since I flat suck at that.

I really like the unobtrusive lighting in the first three. It takes some work. I also love the background in #3. I like her pose in it as well. The only thing that I find somewhat disharmonious in that photo is her jeans. They seem out of place.

I noticed that thread a day or so ago, and just didn't bother with it. I pretty much agree with you on that.

So do I. I am hoping that at the next meetup we have, someone will do a little seminar on posing/ body positioning.

Thanks. I am always appreciative of comments.

I thought that ( the jeans) too, but in this situation, there was nothing I could do about it.

But, this is Nashville, after all. Aren't all singer/songwriters supposed to wear jeans? ;)
