Hi,
Just curious about the favorite 1911 barrels of my fellow BOG members.
There are several types:
standard (with bushing)
heavy (no bushing)
hybrid
hybrid with comp
So can you please share with us your favorite brands? Please use the above classifications if you want and for which caliber. Whether it is ramped or not does not really matter
Thanks

Anyone have opinions about Storm lake and KKM barrels?
Frontsight
stormlake is the barrel used on sigsauer 1911, its also used and rebranded by other smiths in the us so its up to par. I have one on my g35.
kkm is very similar to schuemann, maybe because the owner was part of that company. anyway chuck and bedell of shooters connection has used these barrel with good results
So far I'm pretty happy with my stock STi barrel. It's accurate enough and the most important is that it is very "forgiving" in the ammo that I feed it. It swallows everything I give it and spits it out straight. I've been wanting to try a Barsto or a Schuemann, however I just can't change a barrel that's working 100% Looks like I may have to wait awhile.
Kart NM 1911 gets the nod!
akin naka KKM upon the recommendation of mark_da_spark
so far the gun has no problem, only the shooter!!! :)

Kart barrels or Barsto
I've used paraord , stormlake and a schuemann on my 1911s
only a chrono was skilled enough to tell the difference
practical accuracy wise , pareho lang dami ng miss ko hehe we had 50m basic courses back then
I used the storm lake the longest kasi it was the lightest bull barrel
I liked the balance on my para/caspian std gun
Subjective of course
so with a stock para barrel you need more powder load to have the same power factor as the match barrel?
di kaya well used na yung para barrel nung napansin mo yun? I have a friend who has 2 exact model sti edge bought at the same time ( probably manufactured the same time also) one is fired weekly while the other sees action thrice a year. he told me that when he cleans the bore he notice the difference in tightness.

Yup
di masyado gamit yung para barrel
madami kami nakapansin nyan sa para barrel dati , mababa mag read pero very accurate naman at napansin ko low recoil
dont know kung hangang gnayon ganyan pa din barrels nila

It is also true in our Area. Most of the Para barrels have to be loaded (powder) higher, from .1 to .2 grains depending on powder. In terms of chamber tightness, medyo looser nga yung para vs some of the popular match barrels (STI, wilson, kart, nowlin, scheumann, barsto...)
@akula, doesnt lose para barrel means more realiability in chambering the gun? the only drawback is the higher powder charge to get to major? :)
@akula, doesnt lose para barrel means more realiability in chambering the gun? the only drawback is the higher powder charge to get to major? :)Maybe, but I still see a lot of Failure to 'Battery' due to bulged ammo.
Nothing beats the old practice of clean chamber (devoid of oils) and barrel dropping of ammo. :)

that's a big drawback when major ang pinag uusapan and your gunning for 1st place
