View Full Version : 357sig jamming
i put a 357 kkm barrel in my g23. loaded my 40 mag with ten proload jhp's, and put 1 in the barrel.i loaded these in by hand, not using the loading tool. tried some rapid fire and had a hangup on the third round. bullet nosed into bottom of feeding ramp. mag. was in tight.what do you think? should i get 357 mags? or should the loading tool be used? or do we use just ten bullets instead of 11? thanks

Using a genuine Glock manufactured Glock 32 barrel should fix the problem :)

Even though it's not the same gun, I'm using a KKM Barrel in 357 Sig for a Glock 22 and no problems after having fired over 1200 rounds in the last three weeks. Have you checked the magazine spring? How about the Cartridge OAL?
well the mag seems to be ok and this proload ammo was right from the factory, it looked ok. how many load with 10+1. is it recomended? kind of hard to practice with the proload because of the cost. will try it again with the umc stuff. do many people use the mag loader that is sent with the gun? i have no trouble loading without it. still, there might be a slight difference in the 40 mags vrs. the 357 mags. guess i'll call glockmiester. thanks.
I have some new G31 factory 10rd if you are interested. Thanks

I have a G32 and seemed to have the same problem a few times. I now think that a big part was my grip & stance - elbows & wrist were NOT locked, and my thumbs were not next to each other, pointing forward. Without realizing it I was even sometimes locking the slide in place during recoil when I had the weak thumb cross over the grip thumb. I think the 357 Sig just has a snappy recoil that can cause some issues if you don't have proper grip and stance, FWIW.
And having 10+1 should make no difference. As for the reloading tool, I use it all the time - just easier than by hand, especially for those last couple. The mags should be OK, but some have said that one seems to work better than the other when using 40 or 357 barrel swaps.
:)
1. do not think it is the load tool issue.
2. try a 10-round mag in .357 or .40.
thanks greyhound, you could be right i try not to death grip the gun. same with a 44 mag. all i care about is where the shot goes so i don't over control the gun. i'll keep trying and see if i can duplicate. glockmeister says no difference in the 40 mags and the 357 sig's. just wish i could afford to shoot a 100 rds of that proload and see if it happens again. i think i'll start using the loading tool because i could have gotten a bullet to far foward and caused it. anyway this sure is an accurate cartridge out of that model 23. when i get the mmc sights in i can move it right on. thanks.

That's probably it. I have a 357 Sig barrel for a Colt 10mm Delta and have had jamming problems. I concluded that straight-walled .40 and 10mm magazines won't work for the 357 Sig. It will take a dedicated 357 Sig 1911 mag to solve that problem, and one doesn't exist. I have staggered hi-caps for my g22/357Sig conversion and it works fine.

Your very problem is what made me so anti-glock! It was a good day when my 32 would shoot a full mag without jamming. This was with post band mags, new 13 round mags seems to have fixed it,but for now, lets say "the jury is still out".

Look at the feed ramp on your barrel. For a short time Glock changed the 357 Sig feed ramp design to one that didn't work very well. They later changed it. The early ones don't have it but they also have a looser chamber. The change in feed ramp was also a change in chamber diameter. Together they were real trouble. The newer barrels have tighter chambers but a third style feed ramper which isn't bad. Th bad one looks like it's very narrow with a wide flat on each side of it. The early one is rounded and polished, the latest ones are rounded but not polished.
