I bought a Practical model like 2 yrs ago for $499 new in box, I bought it because I love the p35 and felt it was a good deal, fast foward to April 2008 and I decided I do not like the looks of the two tone or the wrap around grips. I find a set of slim ebony grips at the local gun store and put them on. Now my dilema is this I want to refinish the pistol so it all one color. Would it be a better idea to just hard chrome the top end to match the frame? or would it be better to do the frame black to match the slide? Also another cool thing I noticed is the serial number is not on the front grip strap like most hipowers; I supose since the factory pachmayers would have covered it. This makes me think about having the front and back stippled. Anyway let me know what you think is the best thing to do. When I get it done I will put pics up to.
I would send the slide out for hard chrome. If you want, you could send the whole gun out to have the frame stippled and the slide plated.

IMHO .................I would look for a used BHP that needs refinishing. You will severly diminish the value of the practical by monotoning it. There are no more practicals............maybe later, maybe not.
I always look at the financial investment vs future return

Destroying the value of the Practical model is a concern of mine. I seriously doubt it will ever be made again. I was too young to buy the tangent sighted round hammer captain model I used to want so bad during the 90's and I know it was never brought back. But then I never was thrilled with the 2 tone look. but then again this could be an excuse to buy a 3rd hi power.

Do what you want to make it exactly what you want. If you don't want to do your "collectable" Practical...then, for Pete's Sake, buy another HP & modify it to your heart's content. These pistols are NOT Safe Queens, they're meant to shoot, carry & enjoy. I built my personal (ultimate) BHP a few years ago. And, while I don't pack it ALL THE TIME, you can bet Granny's Iron Lung that if I want the best handgun option I own on my hip...it's THAT one!

I swapped out the grips and sights on mine, and like as it is.
Do what ever you want and enjoy it in good health.
