Portland.

I mostly hang out with the Oregon crew at AR15.com...

We had quite a group for a while. Shoots every few months. Other social get-togethers.

Machinegun shoot a couple days from now in Enterprise. www.eaglecapsa.com

Are there any local shops that can be recommended?

I just moved to Portland from Los Angeles :)

I am stuck here in Northern CA until I retire, but my heart will always be in Oregon. I will be in Warrenton on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of July, then in Oregon City and Roseburg for the next 6 days visiting friends. *sigh* I love Oregon.

There's Keith's Sporting Goods in Gresham, which has a pretty nice selection. There also Gun Broker. The have one store in Tigard and another by the Clackamas Town Center. You can also check out the gun show that comes though the expo center about every 6 weeks. Next one is July 25th through the 27th

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm a transplant from El Lay as well. Couldn't be happier up here.

I just arrived here in Oregon City for the next two days after spending 4 days in foggy, overcast Warrenton. I am on vacation, baby!!

See Keith of Gresham for whatever you need in Oregon.
He's the Glock L.E. dealer with the $100 discounted Glocks for military, public safety, and armed security with I.D.

Some say "Oregon is an open carry state. " B.S.
If you open carry in the Greater Portland area, you have an excellent chance of running afoul of the law. Don't test that. With an Oregon CHL and a cover garment you're good to go.

Just got back from taking my better half and the brats to OSMI today. Nice place. I will be at Keith's Sporting Goods tomorrow before heading to Roseburg.

Tigard here.
The Gun Broker here in Tigard is a nice shop, deals with trade-ins and what not.
http://www.thegunbroker.com/

Haven't bought from them yet since I brought my small collection with me (also came from Kalifornistan), and recently ordered a CZ-82 from AimSurplus.

Anyway they have a nice selection, not huge but a good representation of a lot of stuff.

Now to find a good place to shoot, which I have seen a couple places but haven't been out yet.

One is Tri-County Gun Club in Sherwood (about 20 miles southwest of Tigard, so 50ish miles from Portland?) but since it is a club it has club pricing. There is also an indoor range in Portland area, Clackamas County Public Safety or somesuch, used by the PD and open to the public.

What about Northwest Armory? I used to go there a lot when I lived in Portland. They still in business?

West Linn here :wavey:

I recommend Keith's for price and either Gun Broker or Northwest Armory for customer service.
