We have all seen the guys on youtube shooting super mags in full auto.
How is it possible to do that? And does it destroy the pistol?
Not searching for anything illegal, but wondering how it is possible.

Are you talking about the Glock 18? That's originally made by GLOCK for full-auto shooting, and doesn't destroy the gun.
Or are you talking about "bump firing" ? I saw a YouTube video of a guy "bump firing" his Glock 20, and it literally looked like a Glock 18 on full auto fire!
The recoil and a certain amount of pressure on the trigger makes it bump fire, I think I remember reading. (?) Not too sure, never tried it myself. :o

Not sure if you're referring to most that show the G18...but that model has full auto function. The mags are 33 rounders I believe. I would think they would heat up after going through a mag...but would think if you didn't fire mag after mag..it would be fine.
I've got zero experience with the 18....just drool over posts and videos.

This guy was holding the triger down and it was on full auto. Guess it was and 18. MAg after mag. Never knew they made one.

Ah, okay. Yeah, you're talking about the Glock 18, full auto model. Glock 18's are made in limited numbers I believe, because there's no big market for them, since civilians (nor even police, unless SWAT?) can legally own or carry those around in the U.S., unless they have a certain license to sell them. I'm not sure about what it takes, but I've read you need to go through a lot to get this license, spending $200 a year (?), or something like that.
I believe I read on this forum about a police officer in central America being issued a Glock 18 down there.
I personally don't agree with the illegality of carrying a Glock 18 in the U.S.
I am a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment law, which speaks of our right to bear arms, and that government should not and cannot infringe upon... which they do by banning the G18 from our hands. But, that's another story. ;)

Can't disagree with infringement on our rights, but I would need a home equity loan to buy the ammo this guy was shooting. Went through several strip mags, then popped on a double drum.
He had a crazed look on his face the entire time. :wow:

I've seen that video plenty before; I think he fired 300 rounds, roughly... ?
The Glock 18's themselves are also expensive now, but I believe that's mainly due to its extreme rarity; if they were bought in huge numbers on the market in the U.S. (which they'd be if they were made LEGAL for citizens), then I predict their price would be dropped, dramatically.
It'd be expensive practice, but it'd be worth it when you run into a criminal trying to kill you, imo. Afterall, 33 rounds of 9mm in under 2 seconds, is better than 3-6 rounds of 9mm in 2 seconds, right? :)

Right, as long as there were not any good guys in the area! :wow:
How do they vent that barrel heat?
Thinking more of a job for an AR-15.

The mags are 33 rounders and the whole mag goes in about a second and a half. Someone here posted a pic of me shooting one last year and I have video on my phone that I shot myself of one.

In reality, no, not really. Fully automatic fire has a purpose in the military. It's a fun novelty otherwise. Aimed, trained, semi automatic shots are far more deadly, useful, and safer for other people around.

No, it shouldn't hurt the gun, the G18 was designed for full auto.

Sorry Ford, I disagree. If you train with the G18 (C model, even better, less recoil) on full auto, you can also become very competent in accuracy with it. That's, obviously, what training is all about.
You're telling me, if someone were running at you with a knife, 10-20 feet away, and you saw a G17 and G18 on the floor... you'd pick the G17 over the G18, even after training with both of them for a year or two (or more)? Yeesh... bad judgement, imo. I'll take the full auto, TYVM.
If SWAT and military like it for taking someone down quick, then so do I. The 2nd Amendment speaks of a militia as prefered to our security against corrupt government; so we should, in turn, be training ourselves for war against criminal government! And G18's would be great for that, as well. :)

That rather resembles the clip that Gone Glock described...."Went through several strip mags, then popped on a double drum."
And it also seems to show why they call him 'Dangerous Bob'.....considering that he failed to clean the gun before turning around and pointing it past 'the 360' down the firing line.
Granted, they were just showing that firing near 300 rounds that fast didn't melt the Glock (G17 - it had a doohicky on the back of the slide), but it would have been more interesting had it shown him shooting AT a target and hitting it.....the stock would seem to make it easier.
This video is copied from an VHS tape off my TV, so the quality isn't great, and I don't have a shoulder stock, but I hit the target with every shot. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=536247494592804906

I have to disagree also, the G18 is very shootable with training.
Yeah, some rounds are gonna get away, but when you consider the old statistic that only one in four shots fired in most gun fights actually hit the 'target' anyway, how big of a problem is it? (Yeah, it's probably an outdated stat, but it can't be far off)

The "doohickey on the back of the slide" is the FSS-G.

Being an engineer with an infatuation for firearms, I know all about this system. I won't discuss how it works though, because there's so many laws about that type of stuff that it's hard to know where to draw the line.
While i've not had the pleasure of owning one yet (red tape, finances, etc...); based on how it works, there is 1 part of a Glock that MAY eventually require replacement. However, this would be a simple task requiring just a few minutes to accomplish...IF it did prove necessary. The part is also cheap.
Since it would most likely be a fun gun / range gun, this would probably not be a very big problem. If the gun was intended for anything else, you'd probably have gotten the G18...
One tactic I remember for using a machine pistol, is to tilt it at a 90 degree angle and let the muzzle flip pull it sideways, in an arc. This was only used when 1 hand was available for shooting the machine pistol (e.g. the other hand was holding a ballistic shield). This can be used when entering a room full of BGs.

I would pick the G17 anyday.
Good shoot or not your gun will be tied up in evidence for a while. I would rather loose a $400 G17 than a big bucks G18.
If you are involved in a shooting and there are two guns in the room most likely the police will take both of them. I would think a prosecutor would have a field day with anyone who used a machine gun in self defense.
