Sorry to be so uninformed and confused. I am only just starting
to think about maybe some day shooting a match. I am trying to
practice the basics, watch and learn.

My question is about the application of the safety. There are so
many different configurations of guns, and the IPSC rule book and
their website appear to state two different things.

I am shooting a Beretta 92F. It has a decocker lever that also works
as a safety. After I load the chamber and decock, am I required to
leave the safety on? Or, can I decock, then put it back in firing mode
before I holster?

Thanks to anyone who can clarify this for me. There is no point in
training myself the wrong way from the beginning.

#1, You need to be looking at the USPSA page(www.uspsa.org) and not IPSC.

#2 no, once you decock it the safety does not have to be one.

Thanks. Lots of good info. at the USPSA website. It's good
to know where I'm supposed to be looking!
