Thanks in advance! Bogey 04-09-2008, 18:04 Do you want one that looks like everyone else's shooting vests? Or are you looking for a concealment garment? There are many vests out there, and I am sure you'll get tons of replies. I have two Woolrich Elite vests....one regular and one lightweight. Also have a 5.11...don't like it as much. I also have a fleece/broadcloth vest I found at J.C. Penny's. It;s just a regular Joe vest, not a "shoot me first" vest as some people like to call them. Eddie Bauer had some nice vests too. I got one not long ago. Kind of a windproof fleece.http://www.eddiebauer.com/EB/Men/Clearance/Outerwear--Jackets/index.cat?clearance=Y#ppl=%7Btype%3A%22transition%22%2CensembleId%3A%2231525%22%2CformatStr%3A%22pro duct%22%2CpassedIdObj%3Anull%2CcategoryId%3A%22449%22%2CpathInfo%3A%22C1C2C27228C449%22%2CcolorId%3A %22030%22%2CcatPath%3A%22lineId%3D-1%7E%7EpCategoryId%3D1%7E%7EcategoryId%3D2%7E%7EpCategoryName%3DEB%7E%7EcategoryName%3DMEN%22%2Ccs%3 A%220%22%7D Look at the bottom of the page on the left. Glock Dave 04-09-2008, 18:18 There is no need for a tactical vest if you don't have one. I see people shooting with button down shirts, light jackets and anything else. I actually use a fleece Columbia vest. I would be more likely to wear that anyway. If you really want a shooting vest. Try the Safari vest from Cabela's. DannyR 04-09-2008, 18:25 It's hard to beat the Safari Vest available from www.cabelas.com GMAN40 04-09-2008, 18:46 Actually I want it for IDPA comp. only. I wanted a vest for of course concealment and the pockets. I wouldn't consider it for street concealment. GMAN40 04-09-2008, 18:48 It's hard to beat the Safari Vest available from www.cabelas.com I agree Danny, I just checked it out..and I liked it. On my list..Thanks:supergrin: jbirds1210 04-10-2008, 08:40 IMO, this vest is tough to beat and it is actually made for IDPA. Jason http://www.competitiveconcealment.com/ another okie 04-10-2008, 21:09 The Cabela's vest is fine unless you are a tall person. It doesn't come in tall sizes and doesn't conceal well on tall people. They also make a work vest that does come in tall sizes. I find fleece vests are best, but the fleece season in Oklahoma is about thirty minutes long. eljay45 04-11-2008, 06:59 I use a Domke photog vest. It is long enough to hide your gear, the materail is heavy enough to get out of the way during your draw and the back is mesh so it keeps you a little cooler in the summer. www.bhphotovideo.com Jim Watson 04-11-2008, 08:39 A BDU shirt - old style - hangs long enough and has ample pockets. Shorten or remove the sleeves for summer wear. mpolans 04-12-2008, 00:35 Yeah, but for the ultimate gamer vest you've got to have one of those tacticool "photographer" vests with the big-mouthed pockets on the front. Even better if they tend to droop open wide enough to drop mags into. Use a little bit of starch and creative ironing to help it stay open. Bogey 04-12-2008, 06:48 IMO, this vest is tough to beat and it is actually made for IDPA. Jason http://www.competitiveconcealment.com/ Some people may not be able to use that vest with the mesh in the back. Depends on whether the grip of the gun would show or not. I have seen some where it did. Had to ask them to use a different vest at a Major match. jbirds1210 04-12-2008, 13:00 Some people may not be able to use that vest with the mesh in the back. Depends on whether the grip of the gun would show or not. I have seen some where it did. Had to ask them to use a different vest at a Major match. Wow.....I have never seen that! I know Donna well and I would bet that a vest could be ordered without the mesh if it is known to be an issue. Jason GMAN40 04-14-2008, 17:23 I went with the Cabela's Safari vest. Reasonable price and well made. Just ordered one for $49.95 plus $7.95 S&H. I must thank Danny R it was his suggestion...and thanks to every one else's help as well. Bogey 04-14-2008, 18:10 Wow.....I have never seen that! I know Donna well and I would bet that a vest could be ordered without the mesh if it is known to be an issue. Jason In the rule book, it explains how you're not to be able to see any equipment while wearing concealment. Local matches...I don't care. Majors....yup. Glock Dave 04-14-2008, 22:15 I must thank Danny R it was his suggestion. What, I get no thanks? I did recomend it before he did. Oh well, I'm glad you found something you're happy with. Sorry Dave you too ..Thank You Very Much , Have a cold one on me !.. gary newport 04-15-2008, 18:42 Some people may not be able to use that vest with the mesh in the back. Depends on whether the grip of the gun would show or not. I have seen some where it did. Had to ask them to use a different vest at a Major match. The mesh issue raises a question. I have several vests, including a couple of Duluth Trading Company lightweight vests. I didn't buy the Duluth vests for IDPA, but they would sure be cooler in hot weather than some of the others. However, in addition to mesh in the back, they have mesh panels running down the sides. In principle, part of the pistol would be visible through the side mesh -- except that the mesh is is fine and is Glock-colored (black). I can't see the gun at all when looking in the mirror (haven't asked anyone else to pose yet). If the pistol is NOT visible through the mesh, is it "visible" by IDPA definition because of the mesh? vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
