View Full Version : FA in Texas?
I was reading through some messages about purchasing a FA in Texas.
All it seems I would need to do is find a Class III firearms dealer, Pay my $200 and hope the LEO in my county signs it.
Is it really that easy? What other catches are there? Have any of you gone through the process.
Thanks,
Person

Yes, it is pretty simple, just expensive. Fill out the forms, pay the man. If the CLEO doesn't sign, form a corporation, and then the signature is not required. Same process for sound suppressors, only not as costly.

Yep.
You have to find someone who is willing to part with one. It is definitely a sellers market.
I'm going through a similar procedure here in Pa. I'm buying a Ruger 556 ;b
If TX has a preemption law, I think the CLEO is required to sign it.
If a tx leo dosent wanna sign, its tough S$@T. I know plenty of guys in the dallas area that cant get signatures. I also know one, Yours truly in the SAN ANTONIO area that cant get signature for supressors, so I just formed a corp. LEO signature is dumb anyways because its not permission for ownership, its mearly acknowledgement of legality to own, the ATF does all the background checking, unless your dpt does a local check, which they will.
