A couple of nights ago I was reading on the Ruger forum a discussion about the life span of CCW pistols. The consensus was they are normally good for only 6,000 rnds as they are designed to be carried alot, shot little. The context of the conversation was about the new Ruger LCP .380.
I have a CW9 that is my favorite gun for range play as well as concealed carry. I have had it for two years and have fired almost 2,000 rnds. Could my gun start to wear out in only two more years at the present use rate? This discussion left me a little concerned so I wrote Kahr.
Joel Mayo, in customer service, wrote back and said he didn't believe all the talk and in particualr a Kahr is designed to last "as long as you want it to". He did recommend changing the recoil spring every 2,000 rnds.
