How to install a LS base pad?

OK, I bought some LS base pads (no extension) to use on G35 mags for Limited 10. It was a b%^&$ to disassemble the mag and worse to install these new bases. It seems the tabs (ears) get hung up half way into the base and won't go in any further. The factory plastic bases has more flex and allow the tabs to slide in but these LS aluminum ones are hard and won't give. So, how do you guys install these things, just push real hard and hope nothing breaks?

Theres a reason metal basepads are bad cuase the tear up your mag tubes, most atopped making them in 96-97
