Hello all.
I don't currently own a Kahr but I'm going to be picking up a K9 stainless soon and if all goes well, I'm going to be dropping my P228 in favor of the Kahr for daily carry.
I've owned a couple of Kahrs in the past (7 or 8 years ago)....K9,K40 and for one,I didn't really like the fact that the trigger pull didn't have any discernable 'wall'.
they seem to have a nice smooth and reasonable light trigger but they feel wierd,IMO...spongey.
Anyway I had some feeding issues with one of the others but that worked itself out after a sufficient break in period.
What carry ammo are you guys using in your K9s?
Any initial issues with it?
I carry Golden Saber 124gr+p in my SIG and hopefully it'll run fine in the new Kahr.
so...here I am...newbie to the Kahr club. ;)
Welcome, J.P. I, too, am looking for a Kahr K9 or an MK9. My P9 is my daily carry.
Just curious...what brought you back to Kahrs after carrying your SIG? Was it just a size issue? Have your preferences changed in regards to the trigger? My current carry ammo is Federal P+ Hydrashoks. It feeds well in my P9.

No,I still hate the Kahr triggers.
I'm going back strictly for concealability.
I ride a motorcycle a lot and the Kahr will be just a tad easier to carry and conceal in the Summer.
I've never really had too many problems concealing a fullsize gun but when the wind is pushing your shirt tightly against your body, every little bit helps.
You are pretty much limited to one position when riding so there's no good way to 'adjust' if you need to.

Hey J.P. welcome. Kahr and Glock are all I carry. The Kahrs get the nod most days because of the weather and they are just easier to carry as you know. I use Speer Gold Dot 124 +P in my P9 and PM9. I just ordered a K40 and will be carrying SGD 165's. Nothing different than all my other guns in those calibers. I had a P45 and used SGD 200 +P's in it.
I'm using High Noon Holsters "Mr. Softy" for them.

Welcome to the club JP! I went through quite a few different pistols to finally come around to my all time favorite Daily CCW....a Kahr K9. I tried Glocks as well as others, and even carried a PM9 and P9 for awhile.... but after a "problem" I had using a P9 with "bad" ammo a few months back I switched to the all steel Kahr, and went with a Kahr K9 Elite. I carry it every single day in one of the three following holster and find it an absolute dream to carry. 1) A Smart Carry 2) Tuckers's Texas Heritage IWB 3 UGB Bonneville OWB Holster. To be honest I don't really notice a huge different in weight between carrying the K9 compared to the P9. Weight's not really the issue with me, as width seems to be the problem....and that is where the Kahr's Excel.
I've run Remington UMC 115gr FMJ, Winchester Rangers 147gr JHP's , Winchester Ranger 124gr +p JHP's, and some Winchester White Box FMJ from Wally World and had ZERO hiccups... even during the 200 Round "Break In" process. I can even load the first round into my K9 by sling shoting the slide and it loads everytime...... however, with the Polymer Kahr's I only use the Slide Release as stated in the owners manual.
My choice to carry in my K9 is Winchester Rangers 124gr +p JHP's and my Fiance uses Winchester Rangers 147gr JHP in the PM9 that she now carries. The difference in recoil between +p and "regular" ammo in the K9 is next to none, and I find the +p very easy and accurate to shoot.
Best of Luck...and do keep us posted!
