View Full Version : Slide hesitant to go into battery
Shot my PM9 some today. The first round fired fine as all did but, the slide was slow to go into battery after the first shot. As I was about to "tap, rack, bang" it went into battery and fired fine. I know apparently this is not uncommon but is their any solution?

Check the slide stop pin for proper insertion; make sure the slide rails are properly lubricated; ensure that the top of the slide ramp isn't obstructing the motion (underside of the slide when you take it off, if there's scoring or marks indicating a collision; remedy is to take about two thousandths of an inch off the place on the slide ramp where the collision's occurring - these things are made with the assumption that their incredible tolerances will make the gun perfect, but the cumulative effect of miniscule deviations can cause relatively large displacement).

SC_Dave, is this a new PM9, or have you has it already been broken in? If it is new, that is not unusual, until it is broken in. My MK9 did the same thing until I had about 200 rounds through it.

When you say "underside of the slide" are you talking about the polymer? Because I noticed scoring in a couple of spots. With a Dremel and a fine stone I reduced those areas some. I then polished them back to a shine. It seems their are many areas in the slide area of the polymer that show abrasion. This could be why the 200-400 round break in is needed. To wear the polymer into the correct tolorence???

I guess I have 250 -300 rounds though it now. So, maybe a few hundred more can't hurt.
