How do you turn off the smilies in posts?

In YOUR OWN posts, under the "Submit Reply" button there is a checkbox labeled "Disable smilies in text"; if you click it, you won't be able to use smilies in that post. You must be using the normal Reply button, not the Quick Reply, for this option to show up.

In OTHER FOLKS' posts, I think you'd have to go into your User CP and turn images off altogether, which might also affect other graphics, [IMG] code graphics, and attachments. To try this, go to User CP>Edit Options> Thread Display Options>Visible Post Elements and click off the checkbox next to Show Images.

If one of the more obnoxious moving smilies is annoying you, you can hit the Escape (Esc) button on your keyboard, and it should "freeze" any moving smilies or other animated .GIFs in-place.

I don't want to disable the images in the posts, just be able to turn off the smilies.

I guess I will just have to deal with them. Thanks again.
