Just bought an MA1 in 9mm. So far (haven't shot it yet), I am tremedously impressed.
What an overlooked and under rated gun.

TED Berto 04-15-2008, 12:05 Congrats!! Shoot, report back. (I love my M9) eddief4 04-15-2008, 16:09 .....we needs pics...:needspics: Rabbit Creek 04-16-2008, 13:40 Congrats!! Shoot, report back. (I love my M9) BTW, there was a customer at GNG that bought one that failed in 5 or six rounds. They finally refunded the dude, I think Yogg will remember.:dunno: Berto 04-17-2008, 11:54 Monte?:whistling: TED 04-19-2008, 18:31 I shot it last night. I do not have any pics. It was great. I really loved that thing. It felt like it had less reocil than other guns and the split times were AWESOME. I could shoot doubles like it was a select fire with 2 round burst. What a great gun. Vert under rated and under appreciated. It was relaible, accurate, fast, and had less recoil and anicer grip than average. TED jlh2600 04-22-2008, 02:47 What's the difference in the m9 and the ma1 again? TED 04-22-2008, 02:54 Minor chagnes in the grip, big change in the accessory rail (was proprietary, now standard (same as Glock, etc.), that is pretty much it. TED HoBoBum 05-19-2008, 23:44 Ted, I agree completely with your report - great undiscovered gun, great shooter eddief4 05-20-2008, 13:51 ...ok i officially give up on the pics. unit1069 05-23-2008, 08:33 Just bought an MA1 in 9mm. My new M9-A1 arrived yesterday and I cleaned it up and am letting it marinate for 36 hours when I hope to take it to a Conservation Area range near where I'll be this weekend. Born October 2005. I recently bought a small CCW 9mm but I couldn't pass up the price for the Steyr --- a tad less than $350. Bottom line less than $375 all costs covered. If it shoots as well and is as reliable as Steyr owners say it is it will be one hell of a great deal. Is it okay to shoot +P ammo in this gun? I'm pretty sure it can take a steady diet of anything but the manual that came with it is pretty sparse on information. All I'm planning to shoot during the break-in period is 115-grain WWB FMJ and some Remington green box 115-grain JHP. BadAndy 05-24-2008, 17:40 It will eat whatever you feed it. +P or regular. I'm not sure if the M9s suffer from the same problem my M40-A1 did but you should keep an eye out for it just in case. If the extractor has trouble ejecting rounds every once in a while, send it SAI in Georgia and they'll replace the extractor for free if you don't know how to replace it yourself. unit1069 05-25-2008, 16:45 Same here. If it shoots as well and is as reliable as Steyr owners say it is it will be one hell of a great deal. Went to the CA, shot 100 rounds of 115-grain WWB and everything went perfectly. The only glitch I encountered was the slide failed to lock back after the last round of one magazine. With the very first shot I felt the Steyr is one hell of a substantial pistol. Can't wait to get another 200+ rounds through it. Both magazines were used and performed as designed. It appears that I did indeed grab a great value in a rare opportunity. In my opinion this pistol is going way up in price once CDNN sells out their stock. Sheesh, most dealers already are charging at least $100 or $200 more than CDNN for the M-A1 pistols. FXD 05-29-2008, 00:33 I bet it looks something like this. I like mine alot, best bang for the buck. http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb164/shootum_45ACP/IMG_1666.jpg SELFDEFENSE 06-09-2008, 20:42 Probably the biggest difference from M9 to M9-A1 is the lack of a safety on the A1. The M9 is my CCW (having replaced 17L, 19, and 26 as carry pieces). vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
