View Full Version : A quick question about a Mac 11 .380
I have a line on one for a great price. I just hate the caliber. Can it physically and legally be converted to 9mm? Also will the Lage uppers work on it if the first question is a yes?
Thanks. *crosses fingers*

There is a thread about this over at Uzitalk. Link below:

Crap. Sounds like a no-go.
Anyhow, my dad's buddy has a transferrable Mac11 .380 that he said he would take $1500 for. He has all the paperwork to prove it is legit. He was big into machine guns in the 80's, but he sold them all but the Mac which just sat in his safe unfired since. Now he just wants some money out of it. We showed him what it is really worth and he said he would gladly take only $1500 for it. Right now my dad and I are the only ones that he has even told that he is selling it.
So..... Should I? I was hoping to be able to convert it to 9mm and put a Max-11 upper on it. But I guess there goes that idea.

$1500 is a great price. An M11/Nine would run more than twice that price.

You would be wise to buy it at that price. A little research on subguns.com and autoweapons.com will show you that weapon is worth about $4000 minimum. It would be worth it just to purchase and resale to get something you want. If you choose not to get it send me some contact info cuz I'll buy it now at that price!

$1500 was prices 5 years ago. Make sure the gun is really on the NFA registry and/or is not a hunk of crap. The 380's usually get MORE $$ than the M11's.
If I were you and I had 1500$ for a MG I would not hesitate to buy an NFA registered .380.
I would feel like I was stealing it though for sure at 1500$

1500$ for a transferable class 3? Jump on it.........
Thanks. I was thinking the same thing. Buy it, keep it a while and shoot it on a rare occasion and sell it later for a healthy profit.
I am not ripping him off as my dad showed him what they were going for right now on gun sale sites (Gunsamerica, gunbroker, etc.). He just lost track as to how much FAs are worth since he got out of them over a decade ago and thought it was worth $1000 tops. He saw it and just told my dad that he would take $1500 from him. They have known each other for quite a while, so it is probably a buddy price.
BTW he claims to have bought it new before '86 and never fired it, so it is NIB. He had other FA toys at the time and just never saw a need to shoot it.
The nice thing is that I know a Class III dealer pretty well so he can help me on the transfer and the gun owner works with my dad and is willing to take payments.
Alright, that is it. I'm going to take it.
Now I need a copy of Will Maker '08

If you and the seller live in the same state, the seller will simply use an ATF 5320.4 to transfer firearm to you.... no dealer needed.
If the fella is out of state, then he will need to transfer to dealer in your state, then dealer will transfer to you,,, note ---> there will be (2) $200 taxed transfers involved.

Okay cool. Yeah he is in state. Got a link on the info on how to transfer it to me in state?
BTW my dad just called. They guy said it is mine (as in he is holding it for me) and I can even make payments. He said he has the ATF paperwork and even found the manual. He said on the paperwork he bought it new in April of '84 and he claims he never fired it.
I told my brother that I will probably be getting it and I think he is more stoked about it than I am.
just got an e-mail from him with some pics, including some of the markings. It is an RPB M11-A1. It comes with two barrels (the short one and the longer one with the heat shield), and two 32 round mags and even the mag loader. There are some surface scratches in the finish, but he claims to have never fired it and they are just from moving/handling it over the years. Original manual is even included. Ohhhh it is sooo mine. ;)
Again, any info on how to in state transfer it to me would be great appreciated.
BTW he attached a PDF scan of his paperwork (whatever it is called) with the stamp attached to it, so I know it is legit.

Just go to www.ATF.gov, find the forms, and 5320.4,,, or www.titleii.com.
Just start at box #1 and fill out as applicable. Your name and address will go at top, his will be in next section.
Tax paid transfer, section #4 is straight forward, just copy info from his form straight to your form.
No FFL stuff needed, leave them blank.
when you get to 2nd page, if you know who will be signing the LE portion, you can enter LE info so all CLEO has to do is sign on the line.
Print 2 fronts, then reload to printer so you can print the rears on same sheet of paper. You will need form in duplicate, as when approved, ATF keep 1, and return you the other.

Thanks a lot!
What about going the revokable trust way? The little I know about it makes it sound like the much better option than the old way.

Type you up a set of forms, present them to your local city law enforcement agency if applicable, if they wont sign, Sheriff is next.
If he don't sign, go Trust or LLC.
Re-do your forms to reflect the LC or trust what ever.
*** Forgot to add, I am CLEO signer, my local PD is friendly... I just drop at desk in morning, usually get call to come and get them later in the day.
