Never play with a gun, it has a demon in it. :wow::wow:

The advice was repeated yesterday by Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, police provincial director, after a father accidentally shot dead his 4-year-old son in Cadiz City, last week.

Gary Santillan, 30, is facing parricide charges, after he had accidentally fired his .38 caliber revolver, the bullet hitting his son, Jim Marlon, on the head, police investigations showed.

Santillan’s wife, Marilou, said in a radio interview that she will press charges against her husband, even if the death of their son was accidental in nature.

She claimed that Gary had threatened her with a gun whenever they had a quarrel.

Cadiz police investigators are verifying claims of Santillan that the gun went off after it fell to the ground, while his wife, Marilou, claimed that he was playing with it.

Last month, an 11-year-old boy was also accidentally shot dead by his neighbor in Victorias City, who reportedly threatened him with a homemade shotgun, locally known as “sulpak”, police records showed.

The accidental shooting of two minors within two months were only among the numerous incidents, blamed by the police on improper handling and also on the proliferation of loose firearms in Negros Occidental.

Franco said there are still some people who insist on having guns but are without proper knowledge of handling or using it

True. I know this guy who just got a gun and a premit to carry as well and he still doesn't practice (maybe he knows) the basic safety rules in firearm handling. He began pointing a pistol he has just cocked at our friend. Anyway, I'll bless the pistol (a .40 cal Steyr) and invite him on the range where hopefully, he could be briefed in a tactful manner. Maybe he'll let me try shooting the Steyr.

Terrible tragedy, no matter how you slice it.
