I recently purchased a new Kahr PM9 VD#####, along with 2 spare factory 6 round mags. Was trying a Smartcarry setup with the PM9 in one "pocket" and the 2 spare mags with 6 Gold Dots each in the other. Setup works extremely well.
About 4 hours into the day I was speaking to another individual (female) in a quiet setting when......a strange twang eminated (having trouble keeping a straight face) from "down there".....which was obviously heard by the other party.....Somehow the top round managed to work its way out of the mag with a little help from the mag spring and shot the next round up to the mag lips which caused the twanging sound. At the time I had no idea what caused "the sound" only to have actually noticed later in the day.
Grateful that I figured out what happened before that round was expected to be in the mag and available...........

actually it was more of a "twooing".
Not real loud.....but loud enough to be heard.......She was "Business Elderly Probably shopping at "Plus Sizes"" and I hope I had her doubting that she heard something.
Her: "What was that?".....and nodding Me:(Laughing now.....quite tense then) "What was what?"......me changing subject.
At the time, I could not for the life of me, associate the muffled sound with a.....dare I say........round popping out...... the situation just wasn't cool!
Since then I've talked to probably three other people who own PM9's that have had a round....unprovoked.....strip itself out of a factory mag whilst in their pocket.
Having owned semi-auto's for over 30 years, I have never once had a round come out of a mag without me physically removing same.
While it was....and is funny.......that round may have been needed that day.
I didn't put 2 and 2 together until later(hours) when I found it at the bottom of the smartcarry. I did give the pm9 a quick check soon after the "incident" and it checked ok....didn't think to check the mags.
......okay....resume laughing.

Others have reported this problem and the solution is to put the mags in a mag carrier that has a slant on the bottom like the magazine. I had it happen in my carrier with a square bottom!

Did she ask, "Steve, is that a guitar in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?"
Had the same thing happen to me with an 8 round mag for a P9.
+1 on the mag pouch with the bottom slanted the same as the top round tho I have had the top round pop out when drawing the mag from the pouch but that was when the mag was new. The spring has probobly taken a bit of a set since it is always loaded to max and it hasn't happened in some time.

I haven't had that happen to my 7 rd 9mm magazine yet. Hopefully won't. Make sure it's within spec.

I just took out about 15(loaded) magazines from the safe.....Glocks, Sigs and the Kahr's.
On the Glocks and the Sigs if you look at the loaded magazine in profile, all of the rounds are pretty much at the same angle in relation to each other and completely touching each other stacked in the mag.
On the Kahr magazines that I have.....in every magazine the top round is at a "steeper" angle the the remaining ones below it and only touches the round below same at the back rim where the primer is situated.
If one presses downward on the bullet nose of the "top" round...it can be lowered to touch the round below it (I can only do this on the Kahrs). Doing this allows the casing to no longer be fully supported by the mag lips.
When this top round in a pouch or pocket is in contact with "something" in the pocket.....be it material...or contents....this top rounds nose goes down and the bullet is now only supported at one small point....way in back....
From this "attitude" it doesn't take much to strip that bullet forward and out.
My take is that the all the rounds need to have the same "angle" in the mag to keep the full length of the mag lips in complete contact with the top round which is in TOTAL contact with the remaining rounds below it.
Sorry that I have no pictures....
In my limited mechanical knowledge I believe the cure is getting the magazine lips to have the same angle of ALL the bullets in the mag......however that might be accomplished.....I don't know.

I just started to strip the Kahr rounds from their magazine and notice that as each round is stripped....the "new" top rounds "angle" gets more inline with the round below it.
After 3 rounds have been removed all the rounds are now at the same angle with full support on the feed lips and on the round below it.
Could the mag springs be too long or strong.....or both??

This happens all the time with Kahr mags. I've been carrying them for years so I'm quite familiar with loosing rounds occasionally. Since I switched to an 8rd mag with a really strong spring for backup it has not happened though.
