View Full Version : How to remove side plate?
I just don't like forcing things so....after removing the small screw, how is the side plate removed on a polymer framed Kahr. It feels stuck at the forward end, but not sure how its retained.
Thanks for the help
bump..
No one? I going to drown one kitten each day until I get an answer.
It's not a screw securing it, it's a pin. After that, I would guess that the front edge of the side plate goes under a corresponding lip in the frame, but am not sure.
There really isn't any good reason to get into the side plate, especially if you don't know what you're doing, so you probably shouldn't bother.
You saved a kittens life!
But it is a screw (CW45 anyway), small torx that holds the back end down (got that part). I suspect you're right about the tab at the front, but it was not easily coming out that way.
There isn't a gun I own that I can't TOTALLY dissasemble/reassemble, (can't do everything, but have build my own IPSC race guns and have built a few "fold it yourself" AK's ) just like to do my work without forcing anything...usually not part of the designers' plan. Besides it gives you a real good idea how they work and how/why a malfuction might occur.
I suspect a weak trigger bar spring is causing my trouble and want to look at it before I spend $50 (shipping). I can change the spring and the bar for half that, and have some spares if I'm wrong. If all else fails I'll send it in, but in my mind that's admitting a little failure on my part;)
