I'd like to find out if anyone on here is certified (or has been certified) for CCW training. I have some questions I'd like to get answered, and also will probably have a few firearms to add to my existing CCW (means money for you if you're fairly close to Reno)

What do you need to know

Well, I recently picked up a G31 upper (.357 Sig) to swap onto my G17 frame. Works great, switches my 9mm to .357 Sig effortlessly when I want a more powerful round for open carry.

I want to know if I can qualify with the G31 upper on said G17 slide to carry it on my ccw. For all effective purposes, when showing it to a cop or instructor, it is a real life G31, so all the data on the permit would add up just fine.

My second question, if my first question is a Yes, then can I qualify with a G31 in .40 caliber? Seems to me, the instructor just needs to sign off that he saw me shoot a G31 chambered for .40 cal, and again, all the data on the permit will add up just fine.

Question #3 would be (last one, I swear lol), are the compact Glocks as easy to swap uppers on as their bigger brothers? My next carry gun will be a baby Glock and I'd like to get it in .40, but like the idea of swapping uppers on it for practice and such in 9mm.

I know, most people say just swap barrels and extractors, but this is so much easier for a guy like me who is afraid of breaking his pretty Glocks lol... I actually think this slide swapping this is really neat.

Again, open invitation for any certified instructors to make a bit of cash off of me. I'll be needing up to 3 new qualifications here pretty soon lol.

On your CCW and all other guns you qualify on the paper work turned into the Sherriff's Dept. is Make and Caliber

So qualify with a glock .40,.375,9mm,.45 my personal carry G36  All else does not matter.

I have only swapped BBl's on my G23 to the 9mm,,357 so I don't know about the baby Glocks.

not true.

You must qualify with each and every semi auto you want to carry. It's make, model and caliber. So if you plan on swapping out the barrels, you need to qualify with both.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I've since talked with a local CCW guy, who says I can certify a Glock 31 (or in my case, a G31 slide on a G17 frame) with it's original .357 Sig, and then swap barrels and also qualify with a G31 chambered in .40 cal.

Ok Yes it is make and model, caliber on the Nevada quaifing paper work.

But on your Nics and also on your CCW it is only Make and Caliber.
also you can add as you quailfy.

On a CCW Card is only MAKE & CALIBER
Also if I call in a Carry Check All that is provided is Make and Caliber.

i just looked at the back of my LVMPD CCW permit and it is Make Model Caliber and Date. Perhaps your county is diffferent? I can scan in the back of it if you'd like??

Those are the first 2 pistols that I put on mine.

Also I have added 6 more to the list for carry.
when CCSO runs the NVCJIS fo additional weapons all that is provided is MAKE/CAILBER

County may make make a differance

Also my son is down in L.V. working as a E.M.T.
He says that LV has become a ARM PIT

I live in a very nice, age restricted, community in Henderson. We have fantastic facilities and lots of social activities. I love it.

I go to the strip to play cards often, 20 minutes away. There are lots of very nice places to eat close by and many top of the line restaurants in Vegas. There is always fun live entertainement to go see including lounge acts at some of the casinos that are extraordinary and free.

The weather is great all the time. I am a big rodeo fan and I go to the NFR every year. I go to 51s games and Wranglers games often. I keep my horses in a boarding facility not too far away. It is all good.

Should I keep going or is that enough? Why don't you come down here and do the town? Bring lots of money and help keep our econimy going.

Having lived in Reno/Sparks and made a number of trips to Carson City over a 2 year period, I can tell you, with 100% certainty, that I would rather live in Las Vegas over those three **** holes anyday. There is more things to do in Vegas and things are far more accessible any time during the day. Sure there is crime and traffic sucks and what not, but if you stay away from the hood, then you don't have to worry. I'd gladly trade those things any day and be able to run to the grocery store, wal-mart, gas station any time during the night rather than have everything shut down at 10 PM every night, if not earlier.

Not sure what bleep-hole cities you're talking about, because nothing up here closes except for mom and pop shops and diners. I can do anything I want, anytime I want.

I'll give you the entertainment part, that your big city has more than our little city as far as kiddy rides and touristy artsy-fartsy crap. But if your main form of entertainment is going to 'the grocery store, wal-mart, gas station' during the night as you mention, then you seriously need a hobby, friend. At least I know how to take advantage of the night life.

:tongueout:

Don't y'all have a lot more liberals down there too? Yeah, I'd take Vegas any day. Oh, and when your UNLV Rebels are ready to try again, we'll whoop them in football one more time - The precious cannon is sittin' pretty up here...

If ya gimme a minute, this pirate will get his ship turned around and I'll fire another volly... Sorry, I'm in a mood today and I like my damn town!

night life?? in carson city or Reno? are you serious? If you are talking about Reno Live, then that is a sad state of affairs. I don't partake much in the nightlife of Vegas because i like my money and don't want to spend $10 on a beer and $50 on a cover charge. I can use that money for guns and ammo.

Liberals down here? yeah we have some, just like ya'll do up there. They are everywhere. Our DA is republican, quite a few republican judges as well. I think you hear that it's worse than it actually is.

You can have Carson/Reno/Sparks any day. I'll take Vegas over those 3 places any day. In fact, I left UNR to come back here and go to school. UNLV football is atrocious no doubt. I'm not really big into the whole cannon thing to tell you the truth.

Nah, that place sucks. There's plenty of hole in the wall places: Knuckleheads Bar and Grill with the local bands (and all local bands suck, no matter where you live, but they're fun to watch), new bowling alley opened up the Greenbrae Lanes, there's a whole lot of clubs (210 North is my fav, and cover is free before 10pm with overpriced $6 beers afterward). I'm not really a club guy though, so I hound the pool halls like Cue and Cushion. Lots of events always playing at the new Reno Events Center (your Blue Man Group was just up here, AWESOME SHOW). Virginia and Victorian streets are always shut down for events like the Farmer's Market, the Rib Cookoff, Street Vibrations or HAN, and dozens of other craft shows and fairs during the year. There is PLENTY for people to do up here if they've got half a brain with a pinch of motivation.

Again, you say you're not much for the nightlife, so I suppose all you do on a Friday is grocery shop and get gas like you mentioned earlier. You can do all that here too. At least you and I have guns in common lol.

I know we got our liberals up here too, but at least Harry Reid isn't a hop, skip and a jump from my house lol... He lives in Searchlight.

Can't say much about the schools though. I have a friend who grew up in Pahrump, came to UNR for her degree and is now working the StarTrek Experience down there off the strip. She likes it better down there as well lol.

when i was in Reno, the big local bands were sucka Punch, Keyser Soze, and some other bands. They played at Rodeo Rock and Del Mar. I know both have since changed names. The big place to go was The Waldorf.

Friday nights, for me, are spent at home with my 21 month old and 3 month old and my wife. I'm too damn tired from the week to possibly have any motivation to go out and get drunk and hit on chicks. Plus i don't think my wife would appreciate that.

Liberals? How's about Dina Titus who is up there most the year? She's the biggest damn liberal of them all.

Wow, so much north vs south arguing, is this the civil war part 2?

We've got liberals, annoying californicators, corrupt politicians, politically connected contractors doing shoddy work and soaking the county dry, crappy traffic, retarded roads (US 95 was a squiggle some drunken engineer drew on a map, it's ridiculous. Don't even get me started on the 215...who the hell wants to go in a huge loop AROUND everywhere you want to go?) cookie cutter houses built on top of each other, rude people and career bums/tweakers panhandling on the streets.

At the same time we've got topless pools at Caesar's, the Venetian, Mandalay Bay...and the scenery at the regular pools isn't much worse. :)
For nightlife, you can go to the same club every week and find a new piece of a#$ because she's in town from whatever on vacation.

We've got a bunch of local gun stores that offer full auto, 2 big outdoor gun clubs with a third county-owned one coming soon, Bass Pro, etc etc. We have stock car racing pretty much every saturday at the speedway, not to mention the big races of Nascar, NHRA, Pinks!, and Nascar trucks.

So when you come down, count me in for shooting too! :)

Good job, and in my opinion you covered about 5% of the wonders of Las Vegas.

p.s.; Please note that I have nothing to say, good or bad, about other places. There is no need.
