I am interested in getting these sights. What do people think?
Should I go with the regular or race cut with the wider rear notch?
I would second your thoughts on race cut.
I just got the Heinie Straight 8 Slant Pros with Race cut and I think they are great.
Very effective at the range this past weekend at 5 - 10 yards ranges.

Personally, I prefer the regular cut. Much more accurate in my opinion.

For me Race cut is better. More precise and faster.

I have a set with the regular notch. They are great sights but I also would opt for the race cut. They are a b__ch for the do-it-yourselfer to in install as a Glock sight tool does not accomadate the rear sight. Once they're on, they're going to stay on.

I installed my sights myself for the first time a while back. It wasn't as hard as you might think. I used a file and removed a bit at a time from the bottom of the rear sight until I could get it about of the third of the way in to the rear dovetail. Next, I grabbed a large C-clamp that I use for pushing in the brake calipers on my truck when I change brake pads. I put a piece of sticky felt on the end that would be contacting the gun and then clamped the slide to my picnic table in the back yard (not too tight, you don't want to damage anything). Then I greased up the grooves really well with some Rig (grease). Then, I used a wooden dowel pin and a hammer to tap the rear in to place and align (I eye balled the alignment and got a second opinion from my wife). A rear sight pusher would probably be faster, but this was simple, worked well, and saved me a $100. The sights work great and are dead on.

I have the regular on my Glocks, but if I were buying a new set I would get the race cut for faster sight acquisition. Heinies are my favorite sights by far.
Race cut. Glockworx gives the dimensions on their site:

I ran a race-cut Heinie rear and a Dawson FO front for a while. Really liked the combination. :)

I had a pair of the Straight 8's installed on my 1911 and I am hooked. I will be changing all of my pistols to the Heini's in the near future.

I first tried them on a 1911 as well. Only recently did I get them on my 21SF and they are great for that application.
I will not have a 1911 or Glock without them going forward.

I acquired a regular set and a slant pro, the slant pro were tought for competition, in order to reflect less light and so, giving a sharper focus.
I found the opposite it's true; the slant pro are angled TOWARD the sunlight, I was distracted by seeing serrations GLOWING on rear sight.
The regular set it's much better IMHO because rear sight does'nt reflects light so much.
For my taste, heine front sight is way too wide (.125), I thinned mine to .110 and now it's much better.
Best combination possible would be a regular rear with a ameriglo .90 front sight.
Race cut rear it's a matter of personal preference. I can be as fast with a regular rear, but I'm really much more accurate.
Please bear in mind that with longer slide glocks you have to order the taller front sight.
