Can a 1 in 7" twist handle 52gr bullets?
Anyone using 52 grainers in that rather fast barrel with satisfactory results?

I shoot the Black Hills 52gr HP. Behaves like 55gr ball, but not as close as you would think a -3gr difference would be. Best in 1/12, fine to excellent in 1/9, close range only in 1/7.
Barrels have their own unique characteristics. Some of each twist are better than others, some worse.
My experience is anything less than 60 grains does not do so well in 1-7 twist barrels.
I use a 1-10 twist barrel for shooting 52 and 53 grain bullets.
I have found what the manufacturers have known all along.
1-9 twist is best for a general purpose rifle and with bullet weights from 50 grain to 69 grain.
General rules:
1-14 and 1-12 do best with 35-55 grain bullets
1-10 does best with 50-55 grain bullets
1-9 does best with 50 to 68 grain bullets
1-8 does best with 60-75 grain bullets
1-7 does best with 62-80 grain bullets
