What do you think is the ideal distance to sight in my crimson trace lasergrips to my iron sights?

What is the maximum useful distance, inside and outside? What distance do you think you might use it at? What caliber? Without knowing these answers, I would say the same distance as your open sights.
Thanks for your help, its a G19, I usually use it at the range 25yd. But am more focused on a defensive sight... What are your thoughts??

25 yards is plenty good enough of a test for hand gun accuracy. Try shorter distances as well. 7, 10, 15 yards and practice often.

Thanks Mickdundie, heading to range on Monday :)

They say the average distance for a self-defense encounter is 7 feet. Maximum is 7 yards in most cases. Sometimes it can be at arm's length or less.
For me, I like my laser sighted in to match my sight at about 8-10 feet. That's close enough to the average to be within an inch or so, and about half-way between 0 and 21 feet.
Just my opinion...it's worth what you paid for it.
Sig Sauer pistols are sighted in at 15 yards. I normally shoot my pistols and revolver at 7 and 15 yards.

Ideal distance to Sight in
I'd say 15 yards.
If the bullet hits the laser dot at 15 yards the bullet will be within about an inch of the laser dot from arms length out to about 25 yards.
Personally, I sight in my lasers at 25 yards, making the bullet strike well within COM from arms length out to beyound 40 yards.
The reason I sight in at the longer distance is in my HD situation the chances are I'd have to make a longer shot than 10-15 yards.
BTW, anyone that uses a laser or is thinking of getting a laser, get the free video "Shots in the Dark" from Crimson trace. They are sending the DVD free if you call and ask for their free catalog. It's a must see for laser users.
If this is a defensive pistol that you carry with a permit my suggestion is sight in for MAX of 10yds.
This will be a COM pistol. A few inches up or down doesn't matter in the least. Try to get it right on, right and left though.
I tell people,"top button,next button down,even a little lower,still a COM hit".
Good shootin'.

RedDawn sights his Crimson Trace equipped Glock 19 in at 15 yards. For me it hits about an inch high but would still be well inside COM from arms length to about 35 yards.
