View Full Version : CW9 Frame
Recently purchased a CW9. I took it to the range for the first time, flawless.
While cleaning it after the range I noticed that the right side rail was chewed up quite a bit and the rail above the trigger is almost gone. Kahr service told me this was normal, I think its faulty. All my Glocks, H&K's, Walthers and Springfields have polymer frames and none exhibit this problem and they all have anywhere from 1500 to 3000 rounds through them. Have any of you noticed this with your KAHR polymers?:steamed:
When we purchased it did we field strip and clean then lube?

I have a little less that 1000 rounds through my CW9, and I don't have anything like you describe.

Worn, even nasty looking and chipped polymer frame rails are normal. The Polymer rails are only for ease of assembly. The slide is not supported by the polymer rails during use. Check out the "Mythbusting the "poly only" PM Kahr rails mystery... " stickied thread for more info.
YMMV
Why then only on one side? I guess what KAHR calls normal, I call poor quality. I'm tired of companies charging premium prices for their product and putting out substandard quality. Lately, it seems like we have too many issues of questionable quality coming from KAHR, they need to get their act together.

Coud you post some pictures of what you're seeing?
I no longer have the pistol, the dealer I purchased it from refunded my money. Here are the only pictures I have. Very difficult to see the damage.

I believe those pics are normal. But that tells me that KAHR cannot manufacture a good polymer frame. I have at least 10 other pistols that have polymer frames and NONE of them exhibit any wear, even with 3000+ rounds on one of them. The others have between 1000-2000 rounds on them. MY CW9 was brand new and this is what happened after the first range visit. Why only to the right side of the frame only? Does the deteriorating of the rails stop there or does it continue with use? KAHR has yet to manufacture an answer. By the way, I would love to have a KAHR that didn't exhibit either some sort of a cosmetic/mechanical problem. Another thing I would like to mention is that most of the people I have dealt with at KAHR have been extremely nice and have provided me with excellent service.

Do they sound like a rattlesnake when you shake them? Kahrs are tight guns, which is why they have a 200 round break in.
