hi all, i tried the search function first, but i did not get the answers i was looking for. i am interested in an extended MAGAZINE release for my glock 22. please advise me as to which one to get. as i am going to be taking a training course and the stock mag release hurts my little finger. i know T.H.E. makes one but i also heard you have to dremel the two screw holes first so you can mount it to the inside piece. pictures would also help and i am not wanting the factory glock extended mag release as i understand it is a mag release for the .45 and 10mm frames. please also list some distributors and "how to" instructions on installation. thank you all for your anticipated cooperation.
I like THE the best, its polymer with an aluminum "button". Easy drop-in installation, maybe a 5 minute job. The holes are drilled and tapped for the small allen screws and an allen wrench comes with the release. I get mine from Brownells.
Here's a link on how to install -

My favorite is the AroTek SureTouch which requires frame milling to accomodate. I have this on six of my eight Glocks. I have not seen a drop-in I like better. They will do the milling for you. It is very simple. Since I have a machine shop, I did a couple of them myself. One plunge cut with an end mill once properly positioned, but they probably have it fixtured to where it is a two minute job. Great for lefthander to end the finger bite from the stock item. I also like their SureTouch mag catch.

Why do you not want the extended Glock mag release? Its what comes on the G34/G35 guns.

I prefer the tango down/vickers tactical extended mag release. Not too long and dehorned of those sharp edges.

does anyone know if extended mag/ slide releases would affect fit and drawing from an M-Tac holster?

Check out the Magloc Glock mag release. Inexpensive, reliable, durable, and easy to install. I installed one on my 35 for competition and have used it hard thru a ton of matches. It has held up very well. Big enough to make speed reloads easy yet low profile enough to use in a conventional kydex holster. It's all polymer which matches the Glock finish perfectly. It's the extended mag release design Glock should have used. I did round off the sharp edges of the pad as the website demonstrated was possible. At a third of the price of other mag releases it's a winner by me.

I sent my glock in to be refinished and they installed an extended mag release and slide lock for free. And I love it, except for the cost of shipping the pistol to Glock you can't beat the price (it cost me almost $90 from mail box etc)
I like the Tango Down / Larry Vickers extended mag release. Length-wise, it is in between the G17 release and the G21 release, and it is designed exactly the same as a Glcok release, except it has bevelled edges. It's nice, and it keeps the gun looking stock (which I like).

I have the extended mag release from THE Accessories (just installed about a week ago), on my G23, and in an MTAC the release stops just a little above the edge of the leather. I'm very pleased with the release, easy to hit from my firing grip, and it has not released the mag while carrying in the MTAC.

HI,
I am not sure if you know this but the mag release for the g34-35 is a 21 mag button--which is a whole $1.00 from glock. you can shave the top edge of it to round it (I use my leatherman) and save the 15.00 for the vickers-which looks like the #1981 glock mag release (glk 21).
But its your money, I would Think long and Hard before I cut My Beloved Glock!!
Good Luck Which ever way you travel
