Does anyone have the 552? I'am curious on how does the night vision work? Do you have to push a button or does it automatically sense night/low light conditions and come on? Can you scan a room at night and make out images? Also do you have to have any other equipment to make the night vision work? I'am trying to decide between the 552 or 512.

The 552 doesn't have night vision in the sense of you turning it on. The way it works is the settings are compatible with NVG's. I used a 552 when I was in the Army and I have the 512 for my personnel weapon. I'd say just get the 512...just my 2 cents.

I've got a 552, no experience using nv w/ it though. Check out this thread, it may or may not have retical pics w/ the nv.

The night vision compatible holo sights simply feature a night vision setting, which greatly reduces the intensity of the holographic reticule. That way, you can put your night vision up to it and see it. Without that setting, the normal holographic reticule would be much too bright for the NVG's.

The Aimpoint Comp M2 does the same (the first several clicks show no dot, but in NVGs they are visible).
