And they seem like they'll be better than the stock sights, BUT- it appears the front blade is a bit off on the end with the dot on it. Maybe just a hair, but after closer inspection (after coming home from the range/shop) it appears just ever-so-slightly off. I realize that these are combat/defense sights, but I use the gun at the range and I wanted them as straight as they can be. I know the guy who installed them will straighten them if I ask, but as a new guy is there anything I am missing? i.e. should they be skewed a little (is this standard)? Am I being too anal? I don't think I am but I would like opinions.

Not sure about how "common" or "normal" what you're describing is, but I know that when I get my 1st glock pretty soon if there's anything even slightly off about it it'll bother me very much!
So if you're overly anal, that makes 2 of us :)
I am getting ready to get a set of the Trijicon or Truglo sights, not decided for sure yet. I am like you tho, if things are not perfect on my gun it bugs me.
They screwed up the installation. Have them redo the front sight so that it's aligned at 12:00 & 6:00 o'clock on the slide.
When I picked up Judy's G19 after having Trijicon sights installed, the front sight was at 1:00 and 7:00 o'clock on the slide. I pointed out the problem, saying, "This is not my gun! I'll be back for my gun tomorrow at this time!" The next day they were perfect, and they waived us on free to the range.
I won't tolerate paid professionals cobbling my work or dinging up my property! :steamed:

P.S. Avoid using harsh solvents on your Trijicons--the white markers will dissolve.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I think mine's at like 11:59 and 5:29. It's just a tad off, but I agree, I paid too much. 140.00 OTD with installation.
And is CLP Breakfree considered a "Harsh Solvent"?
Thanks for the response.

I wouldn't use Breakfree on Trijicon sights. But that's me.
I've never really needed to use harsh cleaners on gun sights. I use Hoppe's Elite, H2Orange2, or non-alcohol lens cleaner, Q-tips, and a blast of canned air. Ivory soap and water works too. Don't scrub aggressively.
We've had no problems with Judy's Trijicon sights, and they are superior range sights, as compared to the Meprolights. But they do use painted markers... Meprolight and AmeriGlo use white plastic o-ring markers.
Some cleaning tips:
When using canned air, don't move the can around; move the piece being blasted around. Jostling the can might result in blowing freezing propellant on the piece you're cleaning. While it wouldn't hurt the slide or frame, it might damage painted details or optical coatings.
CCI Blazer is the cleanest burning, cheap, practice ammo. You'll notice the difference!
A Silicone Gun Cloth not only shines up a cleaned gun, but the silicone film left behind acts as a dirt release for the next cleaning... The tritium light shines right through this thin film, no problemo!

I'm familiar with the ups and downs of canned air because I build computers (including the one I'm typing on). Thanks for the warning though, and after paying that much for the sights I'm going to want them to last beyond when I get them straightened out. I really wish I had put the ruler on them (like I just did a little while ago) when the loctite was still wet. At least I know that when I go back to the store I'll take the ruler with the gun. The fact is it's probably something I can do myself, I just don't know how, and because it's a gun (and I'm relatively unfamiliar with them) I feel like my wife at the mechanic. I'm now just wishing I had purchased a sight tool and gave it a shot myself.
The only front sight I haven't had to eventually put back on myself, including the Trijicon set I spoke of last night, is the Glock OEM staked-on sight that came with my G21; and that's a fact!
Let them do it, so if they break it, they own it!
A soldering iron from beneath will melt the Loc-Tite, and denatured alcohol, kept away from the painted circle will clean the threads and contact surfaces. More canned air... It's fine work.
Even your fingers should be briefly cleaned with the alcohol, as any skin oil will corrupt the Loc-Tite bond. I suspect the guys at the shop skip this part!
The final adjustment with the nut/sight, to get things straight, should be a tightening one. Turn 1/4 - 1/2 past finger tight.
Let it sit for a full 24-hours, then have at it!
All my self-installed front sights stay put, using either red or blue Loc-Tite!

Thank you Ray!
I'm becoming more confident so I'll probably end up ordering a sight tool if my next firearm doesn't have the sights I want on it.

I took them in and the guy immediately agreed with me. He went and fixed them and said if there were any more problems he would fix them again or replace them. So I guess I'll keep going to Wade's in Bellevue, WA.
