View Full Version : My AR Idea, Buying an LMT upper and lower, your opinions
always wanted at least one. as well as having mags for it , it seem buying a lower and Upper from LMT will give me a rifle at about the same cost but better overall quality, a bushmaster, RRA, or a stag is about 900 without tax and and a upper and lower are about 1060 together. I thought the extra 100 would be well spent on a better overall rifle, not trying to start an ar war just keep hearing good stuff about LMT, how first rate and top quality they are. educate me a little, just going to be a plinking, Home defense , range gun , my first and only ar , Im a little familiar with the platform, but the one I use at work is an A2, I have been on AR 15.com a little confusing sometimes, I have always received concise info here as well as high road, and ar15 . com as well

You could save even more and have just as good quality if you went with a Stag lower and a complete LMT upper.

If one were to go this route, are there lower parts kits available that include the LMT 2 stage trigger and ERGO grip that anyone can link to?
I'm showing my ignorance, but I have been pricing LMT lowers with with these options, and would be interested in going with RMTactical's money saving idea if I could get into a Stag lower and parts kit for less than $405, the best price I've found on a complete LMT lower thus far with the 2 stage trigger and ERGO grip.
Thanks!
I like the LMT lowers and think they are worth the extra money. The trigger and selector switch are smoother than my bushmaster. I like the stock ERGO grip. The fit and finish are excellent. The collapsible stock is nice and tight on the buffer tube. I bought one at a good price from Quantico Arms. The Stag will be sufficient and do the job well, but if you want a LMT, get one and you won't be disappointed.
I wouldn't hestitate to buy another LMT lower. I may, in fact.

I have a LMT upper and lower. Although I haven’t had it long enough to comment on durability, the fitting is very precise with no excess tool marks and reliability has been 100%. As someone said, the butt stock is nice and tight on the buffer tube, no wiggle there. My one complaint is the trigger, it’s pretty stiff but it isn’t broke in yet.
If you want a 2 stage trigger in a lower unit cheaper than LMT, I recommend Rock River. I have one of their 2 stage lowers and it’s outstanding.

Same post on ARFCOM. Gave my recommendations over there.
I just had a customer build a complete LMT rifle with LMT 2 stage for under $1K. It was a mix with I have pretty good prices on my uppers and he got a deal on his lower as well.

I went with the complete LMT lower, the time it would take shopping, comparing prices, and ordering would have quickly eaten up any savings (my labor costs are exorbitant). $405 + 7 bucks shipping was not too bad for the configuration I wanted.
Thanks for the tips gang.
