i have owned my glock 19 for about 7 years now. no problems whatsoever with it but ive decided to do a couple of things like adding extended magazine and slide releases ( only because i have small hands ) then i started noticing all sorts of upgrade options. will a heavier guide rod help make quicker and better follow up shots? is stainless steel or tungsten better? for use of a duty weapon what weight of spring is best? i know alot of people swear by stock parts, but if i can improve my follow up shots i think it might be worth it, i just wanna make sure i do it right. any advice will be greatly appreciated.
thank you.
It's hard to beat stock, period. I shoot my 1996 G19 in IDPA, GSSF & UAPSA competition, and it is stock except for the Ameriglo sights, 3.5# factory connector, Decal Grip and G17 trigger. I have no use for extended parts, and
I have small hands.
Ive made Numerous upgrades to my 19 and i honestly feel like its a much better gun than it was. I use a Tungsten guide rod with a 13 pound ISMI spring and have never had any problems with it. Coupled with a buffer i notice a good difference in muzzle flip and felt recoil. It does not however take the place of solid fundamentals. Whenever you make a change you your weapon you should as yourself this. Is the modification truly enhancing my weapon, or just an attempt at making up for my own deficiencies?

It is indeed easier to place accurate shots at 10-25yards with a 3.5# connector...
As to if it is needed for a defensive pistol where the typical encounter is 1 yard, I doubt it..

I would not change a thing other than sights. Extended things tend to get in the way.

3.5 connector, preferably LWD or Ghost.
