View Full Version : BHP Repair Kit?
What would be a good list of parts to keep in stock for a BHP 9mm Practical? I'm thinking in terms of springs, ejector, firing pin, etc... any part you might need for emergency repairs in the field.
That's a tough call. Truthfully I have never carried any spare parts in the field. I think its just bad luck if I do.
In order to not cause any bad luck, let's eliminate the "repairs in the field" and just keep them in the home workshop. That is, when something breaks I hate to have to wait for the UPS man unless it's something large or expensive.

I've been mulling this over for a few days, and coincidentally in the same timeframe detail stripping one of my BHPs for thorough cleaning. Maybe it's just the Shooter's Choice fumes but here's my thoughts on your question, Obi.
Firing pin, firing pin cover, ejector, extractor, stock screws, and the crosspins that hold the gun together would be good spare parts to have. Springs? Not so much because of breakage, but yeah they need replacement eventually.
My practice when out and about has been to leave the parts at home and just pack along an entire spare gun of the same model and caliber, when possible. At least when I'm going out of town, or any trip where there's some (hopefully recreational!) shooting anticipated.

I only have recoil springs and Fireing pins for backup parts.
Thanks for the lists. I'll have to get my spare kit pulled together. Need to do the same with a couple of other firearms also, although I suspect the normal list is shorter for most.
Roll pins and springs, though I had a trigger lever break too.
