View Full Version : SIG DAK trigger compared to Kahr trigger
Any Kahr owners out there that also own a SIG with a DAK trigger? Does the DAK feel similar to the trigger on a Kahr?
My Kahr P9 and K9 are my the two guns that I carry the most. I would like to find a full-size gun that feels as much like my Kahrs as possible.
Thanks in advance for the input.

the DAK is a lot like the HK LEM trigger
if you want something that feels like a K9 then buy a glock
I have a PM9 and a K9 Elite, as well as a Sig 226 DAK; and the simple answer is, "yes". I like the consistency and relatively light trigger pull. I regard sa/da semiautomatics as obsolete technology. Plus the DAK gives you a double-strike capability you don't get in other guns; though I've been told the real reason people like Glocks is that the center of rearward force in recoil is more closely directed into your hand, while in other guns, it's higher so there's more kick-up. In a 9mm, there's not much recoil, anyway, so I don't care about that.

You do get the double strike capability in DA/SA firearms; and in the SIG, the SA trigger pull is an almost too light 4.5 lbs compared to the 6-7 lb pull of the Kahr (which I own and love) and the 5.5 scary/unsafe:wow: pull of a glock. When at the range I frequently "thumb cock" or shoot from slide rack my SIGs, with subsequent reloads from slide lock.
My buddy at work bought a fancy P239 SAS. It was his first SIG after owning several 1911's. He was really disappointed in the DAK trigger and had a hard time hitting with it. We went to the range and I let him shoot my P220 and P226. His SIG is now at the factory getting the $250(? he was kinda vague) DA/SA conversion.
In a stress situation you'll never notice that first 10 lb pull. If you have time for a precision aim, left hand thumb cock it...your right hand never loses position...
Add about a pound to the above discussion for S&W DA/SA autos, plus their decocker doubles as a safety..not that big a deal, but you can load from magazine in safe without having to decock.
edit: OOPS! In response to the OP..yes the DAK trigger FEELS similar to the Kahr, but the Kahr does not offer double strike capability.

I carry a Pistol with a DAK trigger as a duty weapon.
I also have a PM9 that, as soon as I get a chance to qualify with it, will be my BUG.
I far prefer the Kahr trigger to the DAK. It is smoother, doesn't have 2 different
resets, and is easier to shoot. They are similiar actions, but the Kahr trigger
is much nicer.

I have two Sig P239 DAKs. One in 9mm and one in .40 cal. and they shoot very similar to my Kahr MK9. I to feel DA/SA is obsolete because you can always go a lighter mainspring (hammer spring) on a DAK to make the trigger much easier (if pull is a problem). I've just ordered another (SIG) mainspring from Topgun to make my 9mm as fun to shoot as my .40. Accuracy is just as close to S/A when you get used to the DAK setup. I had a few downrange AD with my 9mm P239 DA/SA before I had it converted to DAK.

I was so impressed with the .40 cal P239 DAK, that I bought another P239 in 9mm. This time I bought the DA/SA version because I thought I was missing something...I wasn't. I was at an inside range with the new 9mm and after firing a few shots off I lowered the gun (still pointing downrange) accidently touched the trigger in SA mode and it discharged. Some how I managed to do this twice during my 1 hour range session. Enough of that! the P239 was off to the factory to get it converted to DAK ($199+shipping). I was convinced that I needed to stick with the same system as the Kahrs DAO and Sig Daks are very close. Moral of the story, I can imagine having an adrenaline rush (BAR? Body Alarm Reaction) where the body goes into alarm mode with a Single Action handgun during a confrontation...it ain't good.
