View Full Version : Glock Model 23 lasers
I'm trying to find a laser for my Glock Model 23. I have a can for it, which blocks the sight picture and a laser, I think, could take care of sight issues. I've tried the Insight Technologies M6X, which attaches to the rail, but it's not as accurate as I'd like. At 15 yards, it's point-of-aim is about 6" left of where the bullet hits. As we all know, this will only become more exacerbated as the distance from the target increases.
Has anyone tried an integrated laser in the recoil guide rod? Or how about the user-installed one by Crimson Trace, which requires removal and reinstallation of a pin?

I have the CT on my 23 and I love it. I have it sighted in at 25 yards and it's right on point. It off a little at closer distances, but it will hit in the area that the dot is on, so the BG will get hit.
We've got the LaserMax guide rod laser in our G19 & G21, and are very pleased with them! The LaserMax is mounted very close tho the gun's bore axis, and rounds appear just abouve the red dot, out to practical pistol ranges.
Another good laser option for your G23 is the Uni-Max. This is a rail-mounted laser that puts the beam about an inch below the bore, but is also adjustable.
There's two ways to collimate a laser designator...
1) Sweet Spot: The laser is set to converge with the bullet at a distance predetermined by the shooter--the sweet spot. The laser will be offset (POA) more or less, inside or outside the sweet spot (POI).
2) Parallel Beam or Offset: If the laser sits close to the bore axis, it is set up to run parallel to the bullet's path, out to practical pistol ranges. The offset--say it's a half inch--is known a known value, and is ignored or compensated for by the shooter.
Here's a good deal ($164.00 with shipping) on the Uni-Max:

I just sold my LaserMax on my G23, you missed it. You could have saved $100 on the purchase price. I moved to another gun and wasn't going to need it again.
The LaserMax is great. In the middle of a bright day I could see it at about 15 yds. on a black target. The POA was only an inch off at 15 yds. using a bench rest.
The red is better than the green if you are going to use it for defense because you cannot see the red beam, leading the BG back to you, as you can with the new Green lasers. The green is brighter by far but only mounts under the gun. Another green advantage is you can adjust it to hit to match the POA exactly.
The Crimson makes a large grip even larger...wife was going to shoot it? The guide rod laser also means there are no issues with finding, adjusting your holsters.
I guess I cant recommend the red LaserMax enough.
