Got a new PM9 and during my initial cleaning, I noticed a chip on the left (slide release) side of the frame rail (dust cover area), is this normal? It appears to be a machined chip but was curious. I'm new to the poly Kahrs.

I too questioned Kahr about this, and they sent a prompt email reply stating all was OK. My weapon now has about 2000 rounds through it and the "chip" is not an issue. I'll bet you learn to hate the 7-round mag however, and I have asked Kahr to repalce mine with another 6-rounder and send me a metal mag catch body. They are in the process of making me happy and I can't say enough about the prompt, courteous service department!:perfect10:

Well, the chip is machined (half moon) and it is on the left slide rail and on their Web site, they mention this "chip" as a proof mark of some sort. It is half moon and perfectly machined so I believe that it is part of the manufacturing process. I haven't shot it yet, but plan to do so this weekend. I have an MK40 and it performs fine with the extended magazine and I'm hoping for similar results with the PM9.
By the way, the serial prefix is VDXXXX. As for their customer service, I rate it higher than Glock and even Smith & Wesson in that regards.

It is not of any consequence to proper function of the weapon. Forget about it and shoot, enjoy!

Kahr said that it was a "Proof Mark" during manufacturing and that it is listed on their FAQ page of their Web site. I shot it today, did all 200 break-in rounds in one sitting and she performed well, only one FTF and I believe it was round 183 - using the extended magazine.

I've got the same mark on my VCxxx - no problem.
