I'm thinking about putting an Eotech on my AR along with my night vision monocular... so I suppose I'm probably looking at either a 551 or a 552.

I see that the 551 has a shorter body than the 552. I'm guessing that this is because the 551 uses "N" batteries which are shorter? The 552 uses AA batteries, which are longer.

Since I'm going to put both a PVS14 and an Eotech on the same upper's rail, will the longer 552 fit, or will I have to go with the shorter 551? I've seen photos of a 552 that was mounted forward so that it appeared to be hanging over onto a railed forearm, which I don't have.

The battery life span as well as the battery price for the 552 is preferable if it would fit.

Do any of you all have these Eotechs figured out?

Thanks in advance.

Jerry.

the 551 just doesnt last long enough. I would definitely make the 552 work

I have my AA Eotech and a PVS-14(w/ARMS) mounted no prob. It really is about which battery you want vs size. I did want to add another battery to stock- its kinda like adding another caliber.

I just ordered my PVS14 and I don't even have it yet. The vendor is sending me a "quick detach" mount... a GG&G, but I don't know which one it is yet. Once I find that out, then I'll measure how much room I have left on the Weaver rail of the AR. I'd sure like to be able to fit a 552 on it and stay with the AA batteries.

If I can't fit it on, I've been looking at the GG&G scout rail that goes on to the top of the AR and adds another 2" or 3"... surely the PVS and the 552 would go on there with room to spare... (then I'd be wishing for a 3X magnifier!)

Sheesh! It just never ends, does it!

Jerry.
