Does anybody shoot a S&J compensator? If so let me know what you think. I want to buy one for USPSA open class. Thanks Doug

one on my G22. if i didn't like it or think i could improve on it i wouldn't have it. the NHW comps are good too, have one on a 9mm. bobby sells both along with KKM barrels. check out the Carver Mounts web site.

It's more effective than the new KKM comps, which only have 3 ports, I think, maybe 4. I don't know about the Jager or Novak comps.

IIRC, shootersconnection.com has the Jager comp.

This may be a stupid question, but what holds them on the barrel if they don't have set screws?

Red Locktite

I have a Jager and an SJC and can't really tell you any difference. The Jager is priced better, so that would be my pick if I were buying another right now.

I tried red threadlocker, but the comp turned on me anyway. Drilled and tapped the comp, applied blue LocTite to the threads, and it's held well that way for more than a year and thousands of rounds.

So if you use red LockTite does that mean that you don't take the comp off to clean your gun (i.e. remove the barrel from the slide)? If that is the case then isn't that a pain?

Clean??? Cleaning is waaaay overrated.

It's not that hard to clean leaving the barrel and comp. in the slide.

With the comp still on, you can tilt the barrel and run a rod through it from the chamber end. Or, you can run a bore snake through the barrel with ease. Which is about all that is ever done by many competition shooters (who shoot LOTS and need guns that run well and hit accurately).

The rest of the gun is easy to clean.

I love my SJC comp - I have one on my G17... I also tried the Lonewolf one - a prototype but it wasn't what I was looking for - didn't help with major 9 loads.

What load are you shooting out of it? Did you have any issues getting your gun to cycle reliably (i.e. have to go to a lighter spring)?

I am running a 13 lb ISMI captured spring on a tungsten rod, my current load is with true blue here is my load data showing HS6, TB, & VVN350:

Note usual disclaimer these loads were in my gun & I am not responsible for your use of this info which is for educational purposes only. There were no signs of excess pressure in any of the above loads. I also used mixed once fired brass from ebay.

Thanks for the data. I've only worked up to 6gr. of HS-6. Got a ways to go yet.
