View Full Version : Steel shooting question (Sorry it so basic)
Okay, dumb question. Steel Challange guys- What is the loaded, ready & holstered rule for steel matches regarding safety engagement. Are the 1911 types (or pistol with manual safeties) required to have the safety "on" when placed into the holster prior to the draw/buzzer? I've watched hundreds of runs on TV & such but I can never tell if these guys are putting the safety on after loading but prior to placing the pistol into the holster before the run. Again, sorry for the dumb question, but heck I really don't know the rule.
Thanks

Yes!!
Always safety engaged.
Don't feel bad about not seeing it on TV....as a Safety Officer, I sometimes have a tough time seeing when they engage the safety. If I don't see them do it, I always ask. (then watch closely as it comes out of the holster)

Thanks,:wavey:
I was 99% certain that it was the same as USPSA rules but it's better to ask than never know. (right?) Where the best place to find a rule book for steel?
Thanks again!
