Does anyone have a Model 60 357 Magnum 3 inch. How does it handle the heavy weight loads? It looks like a nice packable little handgun. I have a 317 and thought they would make a good set.

:supergrin:Not a bad camp gun.
Handles some mag. loads OK.
Not really made for a lot of shooting however.
Carry yes.

Big fan of any 3" revo.
Cannot post pic of mine.
My quota is used up.

nearly bought the 60. bought a model 13 3" instead. it was too light for a steady diet of magnums, in the sense it was less controllable at speed. i wound up shooting .38s in it, and eventually swapping it off. i can tell you if you intend to get a .357 don't buy that model 60, and if you want a very NICE .38+P, go for it.

if you really want a short .357 to SHOOT, get a speed six ruger or a SP101, dealers choice. If you don't mind shooting 158 grain .38's, then smith is the brand for you, and they shoot very well indeed.

It handles the heavy recoil loads like a bull in a china shop.

It is definitely not my idea of a fun range gun in .357

Now, 38 +P, very comfortable

I just cant put more than 2 cylinders downrange of some hot loaded .357 without switching to something else.

I love the gun, but its just not a fun shooter in the magnum.

i magna-ported one of 640-1's and it made a world of difference in the recoil.....that could be something for you to look at if you plan on shooting it more than 5 times with full house magnums.

I like mine. Even with the smooth laminated boot grips, I find it stout but not painful. I guess recoil is all relative. The fact that I weigh 255 lbs. and was dropped on my head several times as an infant may factor in.

If you want to use magnum loads, get an SP101.

I had a 60LS with the 2.125" bbl, managed to put one load of 125gr gold dots thru her then said "nevermore". Stung, hurt, kept them on the paper - yes at 7 yards, but I'll never do that again. I'd like to have that weapon back but sold it on an impulse. If I did it would be 38+P only.

Buy a Ruger SP101 if you need some gun to have steady diet of the favorite ammo,.357 and conceals real well. I do not trust the internal locks on Smiths. 17z,Omaha,Ne.
