I asked this in the competition thread and haven't gotten answer. Maybe this forum is more appropriate anyway.

Is there a big perceived difference between a slide mounted and a bracket mounted red dot sight when it comes to reacquiring the sight between shots?

I have read that:

1) a bracket-mounted dot jumps around less between shots. I don't really see how this would be.

2) Glock barrels lock up more consistently with relation to the slide as opposed to the frame (thus making slide-mounted dots more accurate). I have no idea if that's true or not.

Opinions? Anyone have experience with both?

I've already ordered a slide rider, so my course is set. I'm still curious if there's any consensus though.

Low riding dot sights like the C-more slide ride and Docter and Burris Fast Fire don't change the eye/arm/hand position geometry for sight acquisition as much as the high position Carver Mount type solutions. So, you can transition between pistols that have red dot sights and pistols that have iron sights much easier. The mini red dot sights like the Docter and Burris Fast Fire don't even require a different holster most of the time. The main negative for slide ride sights is that they take more of a physical beating than the frame mounted solutions and may be more prone to early failures.
