I found some G19 mags, 10 for $50 with $6 shipping, insured. They are blued steel, with 14 round capacity. With the looming anticipation of the ban, and the rising hi-cap prices, im seriously considering these. Even if only 5 worked, thats still only $10 a piece. Has anyone here had any luck with steel aftermarket mags in their glocks?

Thanks.

When ebay used to sell them I bought 3 for $10 just to try them out, they were so bad I threw them all in the garbage.

Thanks for the heads up, all i've been hearing lately is "Every mag not made by glock for glocks is crap". Really disappointing to see that all the mag prices are rising the week after i get my G19. The only mag i got with the gun was a 10rnd :(.

Mags come up here all the time. Keep an eye out, you can still pick up like new for about $15. New go with ombexpress.com, orders over $150 get free shipping. They go for $17.99 which is the best price on the net for one of the best companies to work with.

Looks like the g17 and g19 high caps are backordered. Really good price, i'll have to watch and see when they come back in stock.

They are only going to go up in price, if you order now from them, you'll lock in the price (I don't believe they'll charge you until they ship) and when they come back in stock they'll ship it to you. Between trading/buying here, buying from OMB, etc I've accumulated 55 magazines. :faint:

Thanks a ton for all the help, I guess im gonna stick with the factory mags. All this talk about the AWB and $100 hi-caps is getting me anxious to stock up on mags.

No problem, I'd rather see you get 2-3 good magazines that will last the lifetime of the Glock (and be able to replace internal parts if necessary) than get caught with non functioning aftermarket mags. Be careful, there are a lot that LOOK like Glock but are aftermarket including Scherer among others. Stick with the real deal.

Metal magazines chew up the polymer magazine release, so I would say never, ever use them at any price. During the 1994-2004 ban, may folks tried cheaper, polymer "Pro mags" and they seldom functioned 100%. Stick with stock, period.

Finally, don't get paranoid over any future ban. The Democrats and Republicicans have more urgent issues to solve, like the mortgage market, gasoline prices, the wars, health insurance issues, national economy, the falling dollar on the world market. Do you really think that an incoming Democratic President is going to say the hell with these important national issues, lets enact a new assault weapons ban? Your paranoia will only fuel increasing magazine prices, just as the Y2K scare fueled increases in weapons and ammo prices.

Hmm, I'm going to post on this subject, something I haven't done since my rec.guns days...

The all-metal magazines will eventually erode your Glock's polymer magazine catch. Each time you insert the magazine, you'll grind down a bit more of the catch, eventually resulting in a catch that will not retain your magazine.

There are two ways to solve this situation:

1) Get a replacement magazine catch made of metal. This will resist being ground down, but it comes at a terrible price; you won't be able to use the standard polymer body magazines with this.

or

2) Push down on the magazine release button while inserting the metal magazine. This way, the catch doesn't grind against the metal.

In the end, though, it's simply better not to bother with the metal Triple K magazines. They're terrible feeders, and have weak springs.

The only decent aftermarket magazine for the Glocks are the ones made by ProMag, and even then, only the polymer body ones that have the full metal liners on them.

Even then, you're going to have to replace the spring, as well as the follower (use the OEM Glock one).

Once you've done this replacement, then you have a 50/50 chance of having a decently functioning magazine.

For the money that you already spent, you could have bought several used LE-only Glock factory magazines.

Go ahead, shove a steel mag into a polymer frame weapon. HUH ??

Spring for the OEM mags. There could be a bad one out there somewhere ..... but,I have never heeeered of it.

When I started buying Glocks,I swooped up 12(OEM) mags from the place that everyone seems to hate cuz other people hate it. They were $12.99 or $13.99 IIRC.

It is still the cheapest place around(but make sure to hate them)but never do buisness with them because Blah,Blah,Blah.......

You should have stuck with OMB express for price and customer service :wavey:

+100 Danny!
And I'll add that they chew up the inside of the polymer grip/frame too.

I hate to be one fueling any hysteria Danny... and would like to think that those issues are of their utmost importance... but, I'm not as confident as you.
