I read some posts in rimfirecentral that some models of burris scopes have been contracted to a Cebu factory. Any truth in this and can we locals partake of this good fortune?

In addition to Burris, certain models for Nikon, Simmons, and Bushnell are/were made here as well. In the case of Nikon, it is the high-end Monarch scopes that are made here.

I'm not sure if all the above brands are/were made in the same Cebu factory.

Speaking of that Cebu factory (located inside the Mactan Export Processing Zone), I know for a fact that they made a trial run of Leupold scopes but the contract did not materialize.

Probably not if you are thinking of buying them retail direct from this factory. Locator firms inside Export Processing/Industrial Zones are, as a rule, prohibited to sell their products directly to the local market. The only ones they can sell are the so called "production overruns" or rejects.

yes, they are maufactured in cebu by philippine kenko which is owned by a japanese, located in mactan economic processing zone. There are also some local subcontractors who are making the aluminum casing machining but Phil Kenko do the lens and assembly.

I asked them if they can sell locally but according to them it was intended for export.

They are doing various brands of scopes such as bushnell, burris and nikkon.

They are also making binoculars, telescopes, and various lens for cameras.
