Anyone have an idea on how many 2nd Gen G32's were produced? I have heard anywhere between 500 and 1000, but I have no idea.

Based on our own serial number project info, there were probably at least 2,000 of each, maybe 2500, but probably no more.

I found:

G31:
Prefix
CDZ - 2/98 - 2nd gen
CLG - 10/97 - 2nd gen
CPC - 1/98 - No gen listed
CPK - 4/98 - 3rd gen

G32:
CEA - 2/97 - 2nd gen
CFP - 5/97 - 2nd gen
CPC - 1/98 - No gen listed
CRL - 5/98 - 3rd gen

That would be *assuming* 1000 guns per prefix, which isn't always the case (note the CPC prefix in both models would mean 500 of each?), and that none were sold overseas.

The early G31 and G32(and G33) have the long rear frame rails of the early G26. G27 design. The G22 and G23 of the same period have shorter rear frame rails. All subcompacts of that age or older have the long rear frame rails. A short time later the G22 and G23 did get the long rear frame rails but not the G17 and G19. After that the frame rails were all redesigned to a different and shorter design. I have a G33 that dates to Feb 1997 from the website with the date calculator but many sources claim the 357 Sig Glock's didn't come out until 1998. I don't remember which year I bought the G33. I did buy it as soon as they came out. I almost bought G32 and a G31. I had a G27 with an aftermarket 357 Sig barrel before Glock was making 357 Sig pistols.

Does your 33 have smooth finger grooves?

I am pretty sure the very first G33s had them...I have a Glock pamphlet that shows one, but I've never seen another.

Yes it does. It was the very first 357 Glock I saw. The gun shop had been firing it and broke one of the magazines.

The early G33 frames were exactly the same as the early G26 and G27 frames. Only difference is the ejector. Even the early 9mm G26's had the extra pin and the long rear frame rails. The early 40 S&W Glocks had a shorter ejector and all of the early and late 357 Sig Glocks have a long ejector. The later 40 S&W Glocks also went to the longer ejector at a later date.

But then....bummer....I was hoping it would be CPC so we could find out if they were 2nd gens or 3rd's... :)

I was told at one time from a Glock District Manager that there was between 350 - 500 of the 2nd Gen G32's made and 500 - 1000 G31's in 2nd Gen. I am not sure how accurate that is but knowing the person I would say it may be close. I personally have 1 of each in a second Gen and a friend of mine also has one of each.
