I have a G17 that i use for USPSA production class. Can i use a LWD slide and stock length barrel and shoot it as a G34 for production class?

NO! Go to the USPSA web site and read the rules. That will clarify it for you. If you are fairly new to USPSA Production just shoot the G17, it is a very good production gun.

Same Type Thread at Brian Enos Glock Forum (http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58401)

Seems the aftermarket slides are legal as long as the profile is the same.

From USPSA website:

APPENDIX D4 — Production Division (Contd.)
Special conditions:
.
•After-market slides and barrels – provided they are
the same length, contour, and caliber as original factory
standard.

Yes, as long as the slide is the same contour/profile. So, the answer is yes you can.

G17 and G34 do not have the same length slide and barrel. How does that fit the UAPSA rule? If you want to shoot it as a G34 the slide and barrel length will have to be different that the origional G17.

The way the rule is written is that you can't use a G34 barrel in the G17 slide. It has to be a G17 length barrel in a G17 slide.

•After-market slides and barrels – provided they are
the same length, contour, and caliber as original factory
standard.

If you put a G34 slide and barrel on a G17 frame, it will look just like a G34.
It's only a little white lie.

This just in:

John Amidon (of USPSA) has just ruled that Lone Wolf slides are not Production legal, because they have forward cocking serrations. Same would go for Caspian slides.

Damn good thing i saw this post, i ordered a G34 slide and barrel from LWD, from reading the previous posts on here and the Enos forum. Maybe if they could do a slide without the front serrations it would be legal. I'll have to keep an eye on this thread.

So a factory G34 is USPSA Production legal? Weird.

I shoot IPSC and a G17 is as big as you can go length wise with very minimal mods (sights, grip tape, and factory accessories like the extended mag release, slide stop & 3.5lb connector).

I like the IPSC way better. Buy the gun, shoot the gun - if you want to tinker there's other divisions available.

Whoops! As per the new ruling by John Amidon, looks like they're not legal anymore.

Don't forget the lowered ejection port and beveled slide rails.

It's the same with the XD tactical versions, comes from the factory that way. G35 which is .40 version is also legal. But the 17L is not legal in production class
