Well the wife did good for our anniversary and got me exacty what I wanted.
I've been wanting something to practice with for IDPA that would match my G19 that I use for competition. I have the AA conversion kit but still have to go to the local range, no rapid fire, no double taps, no draw from concealment...
I ended up with a KWA airsoft Glock 19. I did the research for it and mentioned it would be a good anniversary gift.
It came in last week and I was finally able to find some green gas around the area.
The gun itself is a dead ringer for a G19. Other than missing the logo's and trademarks, and the orange tip, it is identical in dimensions to the G19 . Without the mag in it the weight is identical to my G19 with the AA kit on. With the heavy mag in it is very close to the weight of the G19 with standard slide and loaded magazine.
I made a target out of foamboard and two sticky targets made for airsoft. A large 12" fits the center of mass and a smaller 6" is on the head. Drew out the dimentions of a standard IDPA target and hung it on a cabinet in the garage. All the pellets stick to the target with only a few wandering around the garage.
I first disassembled it for lubrication and dang if it doesn't come apart like a glock. Other than not having to pull the trigger for disassebly the take down slide works the same way, recoil spring and barrel assembly come out identical to the real thing.
When firing I was surprised that it actually had a decent kick to it for a BB gun, i'd put it on par with a light .22lr load. The blowback works great and has last shot hold open. You can fire as fast as you pull the trigger without any hesitation. The gun is a little wider for my fobus compared to the setting I have for my standard G19. A little loosening of the retention screw and it worked good.
The magazines hold the BB's and gas. Easily filled from the bottom with a can of airsoft gas. Seem to get about 4 mags full of 26 BB's each per magazine gas fill, filling only takes about 5 seconds. The magazines are heavy, about the weight of a loaded glock magazine and are identical in size. They fit perfectly in my kydex magazine holders.
Accuracy is very good. I had to adjust my rear sight slightly to get it centered. It now hits POI about 1/2" high over the POA at the top of the front sight, more than adequate. The trigger has a good feel to it with very little creep and a nice break. There is a hole drilled for the glock trigger safety but it is not there.
The green gas was $10.00 for a bottle that goes about 2000 shots, BB's were $4.99 for 2000. So for under $30 I can practice anytime I want. The gun itself was $110.00 and a spare magazine was $24.95.
I'm very happy with it and it is a very cheap way to practice draws and reloads in the garage. now I just have to make a few more targets for the backyard so I can set up an entire course of fire:supergrin:.
