Got my LMT lower today, and am saving for an upper (damn unissued condition russian SKS got in the way).
Are free-float rails the only accessory mounting option I have for my upper?
I don't want alot of crap, just the necessity, a light. I like vertical grips, and I could see a laser in my future.
Free float rails are kinda pricey, but if that is the best (or only) way to go, that is what I'll do.
Thanks for your help.
I have a set of MI and Troy and I like the Troy better. The next LMT upper I order I'm going to get LaRue FF rails put on when I order it. The Troy's cost me $150 and I think I paid $130 for the MI. The FF LaRue's will run around $250. I got the Troy for a Colt 6920 but they didn't fit so I put them on my Bushy.

I'm no expert, but you can mount an optic on a flat top or set-up that attaches to the carry handle. You can then mount a light and laser using a bracket on the barrel. No quad rail necessary.
There are accessory platforms available that mount to the front sight tower too.
You could mount a light out front with a pressure switch and cord coming back from the tailcap of the light.
