Received my Pro Load order today so it was time to do some shooting.

First gun: Glock 27 with Fire Dragon 3.5" 357 SIG barrel

GA 125 gr Gold Dot Shear Power Plus - Ave velocity 1297 fps
Pro Load 125 gr Gold Dot - Ave velocity 1384
High/1415 Low/1360 ES/55 SD/16

Second Gun: Glock 23 with 4.4" KKM 357 SIG barrel

GA Shear Power plus 1385 fps (from a previous chrono session)
Pro Load 125 gr Gold Dot 10 shots
Ave/1494 fps
High/1514
Low/ 1474
ES/ 40
SD/ 13

We then shot some 1 gallon milk jugs filled with water. The bullet penitrated 3 jugs completely and indented the 4th. We recovered the bullet on the Railroad tie we used to line up the jugs. It weighs 125.0 grains exactly, and is mushroomed picture perfect. Then I fired 6 more rounds over the chrono. Those 6 averaged 1502 fps with a SD of of 15. Now I am anxious to get a 6" barrel for my G35 and try these. Just to show a comparison between these and .357 Mag revolvers, I once had a 4" S&W L-frame and chronographed 2 different factory 125 gr JHP rounds. Winchester and Federal. Both averaged less than 1350 fps and remember, a revolver is measured from the forcing cone to the muzzle. A 4" revolver is equivalent to a 5.7" semi auto pistol barrel, if you measure from the rear of the cartridge case on both. The 357 SIG is truely a ballisticly efficient cartridge. For those interested in accuracy results, I'm going to put them on the bench rest after I get new glasses. At a half century in age, I can no longer shoot little groups at 25 yards without a scope. I am hoping a new eyeglasses presription helps.

A note of intrest: The GA rounds are loaded to an OAL of 1.118" , the Pro Load measures 1.130".

That is fabulous, Neal. Don't want to change the topic, but what did you think of the FireDragon barrel? I've been hearing mixed reports on it.

UpeoWaMacho,

That's going to be a tough one. I have barrels from BarSto, Jarvis, KKM and have had one from Accu-Match, but sold it. This is my first Fire Dragon. The appearance and finish of the Fire Dragon is the nicest of any of them. However, I am going to reserve judgement for a while on which is best. The first Fire Dragon barrel I received would not feed at all. I polished the feed ramp extensively and it still would not feed. I contacted Frank at Fire Dragon and he sent another one out right away and I sent him mine. The replacement he sent me feeds fine. So, at least we know customer service is first rate at Fire Dragon. The one thing that I am a little concerned about is, with the Fire Dragon barrel in the G27, the slide when in full battery, is not as far forward on the frame as when the KKM or stock Glock barrel are installed in the same gun. It's only a few thousanths, but clearly visible to the naked eye. This is something I will pursue with a Glock armorer in the future. The one thing I like about the Fire Dragon barrel is it has the snuggest chamber and best supported feed ramp of any of the aftermarket barrels I own. If you have more reports, please share with me. If you would rather not post them, please e-mail privately.

Alas, no reports from my end, which was why I jumped on your post. ;f

I guess that since I'm just going to be firing retail ammo, and not reloaded, I should just get the G31 barrel for the G22. Less expensive, and it does the job.
