Can you notice the .04" difference in thickness and .1" in length just by looking (if they are side by side) between for example a p40 and p9mm? Where exactly is this extra thickness? That is the usual advantage of .40sw, that frames/slides are the same width as the 9mm version (like g26/27, or 9/40 239).

The difference is in the slide. I have a CW9 and a friend at work the CW40. We were comparing them last week and it looks as if all the extra is in the slide. All else looks the same. Not sure about the P Series, but I imagine they would be the same.

Ok, thanks G.J. Well that's where it counts. Even .04" isn't much, but that much again and your up to kahr's .45acp width. That's one reason I like the PPS, like with GLOCK you don't get punished for .40sw vs 9mm in width because they are identical at .91". But the PPS is ridiculously big at 6.3" for having only a 3.1" barrel vs 6" with a 3.5" barrel in kahr!
