Take the bottom of the magazine off, take spring out, take follower out. Reverse.

I must be doing something wrong because I have to jiggle and fight to get the follower out.
I was hoping there was a trick to be able to pull the follower out without the fight.
Some of the older followers can be a bear to get out for a novice. Just tilt the follower forward and to the right a bit. Pull it out at roughly a 45 degree angle (towards your left). The spring shouldn't give you any trouble tilting it.
Magpul followers just seem to drop right in.
Getting them out is easy, putting new ones in is a pita.
After enough frustration to harelip the pope I grabbed the power tools.
I just dremel a small notch behind the right front corner of the follower.
It leaves about 1/8 of an inch intact up front and makes it a lot easier to just jam the whole thing in there.
The entire front left side of the follower and about half of the right contact the small flats on top of the mag body itself.

Thanks for the replies.
I finally got the black followers replaced with green.
