I'm looking for a decent pair of safety glasses for when I go to the range. I already wear prescription glasses, so I need something that will fit over them. Something that will stay on my face and not annoy me while I'm shooting. So if you wear prescription glasses while you shoot and have your own safety/shooting glasses, what brand are you using? Thanks.

I bought the ESS I.C.E with the prescription inserts. The inserts match my regular prescription which keeps me doing everything the same. The combo cost $53 and setting the inserts for my script was $120. Considering that my regular glasses cost over $500 I feel that I am protecting my investment.

Who made the prescription inserts, a Lenscrafters or you eye doc's office? What did you exactly do to get the inserts made? Thanks.

The lens template comes with with prescription inserts. My eye doc checked me out with my G22 in hand to insure that he was getting the right measurements. The lens was prepared using a modified version of my usual glasses (progressive lens). Once the lens is prepared they are cut out using a special piece of equipment at the office used for all lens preparation. The lens are then placed into the insert frame.

I rechecked the cost and it turns out that I got mine at cost. However, progressives are more expensive. Single vision or bifocals are more reasonable.

If you are in the SoCal area I can recommend this office. Gun friendly and willing to work with us.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I'm in Virginia, and even more unfortunate is that they dont have the Rx inserts that are stronger than +/-4.

I use Eye Armor over prescription safety glasses from Sun Ray Optical.

They cost about $25.00 per, IIRC, and come in clear, smoke, and amber lenses, and in three different sizes to fit over different glasses.

Hope this helps.
