View Full Version : LMT vs Bushmaster
was thinking of getting an A3M4 Bushmaster w/16" heavy barrel....then i saw an LMT at my local gun shop...very nice.
this is to be my "**** hits the fan" weapon. simple, no extra tech'd out crap on it.
BM is $1050...LMT is about $1250...is it worth the extra $200?
lots of reviews on BM but i haven't really seen anything on LMT or than the few posts of "LMT all the way!" cheerleader posts.
LMT has 1:7 barrel, BM has 1:9...i understand 1:9 is better for overall use. 1:7 can shoot heavier grains but barrel wears out faster with higher rate of twist.
again, this is my "**** hits the fan" weapon, not a showpiece.
my buddy who was in the army says BM for overall quality and price.
honest feedback would be appreciated.
thx.
I have both and IMHO the LMT is a better gun. It's a couple hundred well spent. You can buy a complete upper then get a complete lower and save some $$$.

I have both Bushmaster and LMT. Buy the LMT. Buy it as components as mentioned above.

Just because your friend is in the army doesn't mean he knows much. Trust me, i'm in the Air Force and we get a lot of that.
LMT is one of maybe three manufacturers OTHER than Colt who make absolute top of the line weaponry (two of the others being Noveske and Sabre Defence).
Bushmaster isn't bad but it's not an LMT by a long shot.

You can get an LMT for cheaper, or an AR15 of LMT quality for cheaper. Buy a complete Stag Arms lower and a complete LMT upper. You can save at least $100.
Also, yes LMT is better than Bushmaster.

LMT hands down.
The fact of the matter is that LMT is manufactured to the Military TDP. Bushmaster is not. The Special Operations Community has been purcahsing LMT's for years as its compatible with GI parts. Bushmaster is compatible with some parts but not all and is not manufactured to DOD specs. If your needs are professional rather than amateur get the LMT, if you shoot 100 rounds every three months get the Bushmaster.

How's it working out for you? If it is working well, who cares? Besides, it just gives you another excuse to buy ANOTHER AR15!!!

Just wait until the Bushmaster ACR gets to market. These things change like the wind. Remember when everyone said "buy Rock River?"
Get the LMT. I have a LMT 10.5in SBR upper. The best upper I have ever had.

They do, it's called the MRP. Also, LMT beats Bushmaster, hands down.

I doubt this very much. I have no scientific proof, but I think the above statement references internet myth, more than anything. Considering that the military shoots 55gr XM193 and 62 gr. M855 more than any other ammo, why would they go with a 1:7 twist over the 1:9 if the above quoted statement were true? I could be wrong, as the gov. and military often work in mysterious ways.

This is my personal experience, so don't bash me for going the other direction. I purchased an LMT from an online vendor over at AR15.com for around $980 all together. The finish was the worst I have ever seen. It bled purple every time I cleaned it, the flash hider looked like someone beat the heck out of it before putting it on, and it had machine marks all over it. I took it to the range and it couldn't fire more than two rounds without jamming. Their was a problem with the feed ramps, caused bullet set back with nearly every round I tried.
I sold that POS and bought a Bushmaster.....never looked back. The rifle looks better, shoots better, and hasn't had a malfunction yet. Not only that, but Bushmaster has done a hell of a lot for the shooting sports. Buy with confidence and skip the purple monster.

Nobody should be bashed because they have different experience. Whatever works for you is what you stick with.
