As soon as one of you catches your breath from laughing at me for buying a gun I know nothing about (), could you explain how to disassemble a Springfield Micro Compact. I know that Kimber's have a hole in their compact to stick a little alum wrench into, but this one doesn't. I actually had to watch several videos on youtube to learn that much about them; they only had videos of Kimber Ultra's, and one where the guy stuck a plastic clip onto the guide rod. I didn't think to ask the guy I bought it from (used) how to do it, cuz I figured it was going to be just like my Gov. Now I've got it on my bench and can't figure out how to get the spring out from the slide.:dunno:

Also, I had several failure to feeds with my own hand loads. I was presuming that it was likely the OAL of the loads (which are flawless in my Gov.)? In a few cases the FTF had a corresponding FTE with it. These little guys are pretty tight; I was hoping it was my hand loads. Any thoughts?

Does the recoil spring plug have an Allen wrench hole in it facing muzzle out? If not, it will have to be captured first.

I usually use an Allen wrench t-handle of appropriate size to depress the reverse plug (Inserting it below barrel at 4:00 or 7:00 below muzzle), then insert a bent paper clip or even smaller 1-1.5 mm allen wrench into the guide rod to hold the plug in the compressed position....

Once compressed and captured, there should be sufficient space to slide the rod/springs assy forward so that it and the barrel can be removed. (helps to have 3 hands doing it that way, unfortunately!)

Actually, I reserve my laughter for the ones who don't even know what they bought; with some over for the ones who want a "price check" after they have paid.

If you had gone to the SA website and downloaded the manual, you would find that you should have gotten with the gun a "takedown piece" to trap the recoil springs with.

I bet if you called SA they would send you one, along with the instructions, being a safety consideration and all.

Springfield will send you one with a phone call as said above.
You can always just line up the slide-notch and take out the slidestop.
